recomendations for an arcade stick?

i ve read around and looked at expensive and en-expensive stuff. what do your guys use/ recommend?
i ve currently got the green/white dc stick..and the yellow/grey namco ps stick...i ve never really used a stick very much and just recently started getting into em...i d like to keep the price under 200 usd.

Need more details. Do you have a specific system in mind, or do you want one that works on multiple systems? You can get something nice for $200, though, it'll probably be system specific.

Photos would help, but if I'm identifying your sticks correctly, both of your sticks are rated pretty highly as it is. If you're happy with what you got, you could just keep using it (and look into adapters to use with your Namco stick for other consoles as suggested above), or look into some minor mods if you want to try out arcade buttons or whatever. Should be some info in for you in the Hardware forum.

Wait, did someone release a decent PS2 -> 360 adapter?

Last I checked, the one with the least delay cost ~$90 and it only worked if you had a wired 360 controller plugged into it at the same time. It was cheaper to pad hack, or buy a custom PCB.

This is a wonderful stick. It's a great choice if you're going to be playing anything on 360.

For just a little more than the price of a 360 adapter, you get an excellent stick. Adapters to go from 360 to other consoles will be cheaper.

For somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 I can do a Mad Catz 360 SE stick + MC Cthulhu mod with RJ-45 jack and detachable cables for 360, PS2, PS3, PC, Saturn, SNES, GameCube, PC-Engine, NES, and 3DO. As far as just straight retail sticks, the Mad Catz TE stick is the best retail stick on the market. The HRAP EX-SE is good if you prefer the formfactor. And the Namco PSX stick that you have is a big favorite among stick collectors; in fact the Omron microswitches it has are the same ones used in Sanwa parts.

The Xconverter 360 from etoki is fine and apparently lagless but cumbersome requiring a wired pad around.

That's for PS2-360. The post I was responding to was referring to 360-PS3 adapters.

Hey, what about X-Arcade? Is it a good choice for shmups?
I have a stick, but it is obviosly not good as X-Arcade. And I do not know much about the arcade sticks.

thanks for all the help gents!!! my gf got me the tatsunoku vs capcom stick soooo i was gonna hold off (because she thought it was so sweet,it is pretty neat-o) so as not to hurt her feelings....but toys r us is having a great sale on clearance stuff so i picked up the hori ex2 360 stick for a measly 29 dollars!!! thinking about modding it myself. soooo what sites did you fellas use when you modded your sticks?

I hope that clearance didn't include MadCatz SEs, those would have been a much, much, MUCH better choice than an EX2. EX2s are still the worst sticks on the market on all counts (the stock parts are terrible, they completely lack durability, the PCB isn't common ground so you can't go multi-console with it, and it's a pain in the ass to mod).

Since you have a Tatsunoko stick (a MadCatz SE, technically), it's very much worth looking into modding it with a Cthulhu if you want to go multi-console. The Tatsunoko will take arcade parts out of the box, no dremeling or soldering necessary.

thnx for the heads up..no madcatz. this is the only stick our store had. i m still trying to get used to an arcade stick after playing with a saturn d pad for so long.

yea, the tvc stick feels waaay more responsive and a bit more solid. i may just pass on modding it myself and just leave it as is. i can always count on the bevy of knowledge at this site! thnx again guys!
