2010 Movies thread
Just wondering what up and coming 2010 movie flicks you have your eye on. Both 'HUMAN CENTIPEDE' and 'MUM and DAD' look to be the main two films that will shock cinema goers. Super-8 (aka CLOVERFIELD-2) i guess will be more a Godzilla style SF B-movie than the original raw video style footage of Cloverfield. Expect plenty of destruction all round.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
I've heard of The Human Centipede recently, but Mum & Dad was new to me. Thanks!
And yes, the new MK trailer is great fun. :D Sonya is addressed by her full name for no apparent reason (other than to make it 100% clear who she is), but Scorpion is addressed by his real name (that no-one knows or cares about) twice!

Excited about Scott Pilgrim, that's about it right now.

Forgot about the new Tron, I like the visual style of it alot.
I'll probably watch Jonah Hex, but not expecting much from it.
Super 8 isn't coming out untill summer 2011.

Thank Disney for going with Syd Mead's cool light cycles and new light car vehicle designs. Should look awesome in digital 3-D format when it finally makes it's grand debut on December 17th, 2010. Will it be nominated for best special EFX category at the upcoming 2011 Oscars Awards show (hence the very late 2010 film debut)?

The Killer Inside Me roughly based on the novel by Jim Thompson, about a sheriff that's also a killer in the 1950's.
MC 900 ft. Jesus does a great version of the novel as a song.

Well I watched Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl

Kinda low budget Japanese madness. Quite funny, more gore than Bad Taste and Braindead put together, massively racist.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
Just watched human centipede. The images in pics show 3 girls, but there are only 2 in the movie.
Anyway 3/5 for me. I didn't think it were that great.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: 2010 Movies thread
Saw Charlie Brooker do a 'thing' on Human Centipede a while back. Looks 10/10 for concept but i figured it'd never deliver. Still, the claim it's based on '100% real science' must give it an extra star!
Re: 2010 Movies thread
Seems there is a sequel (or "Part Two") in the works for that human centipede movie? I'd never heard of it till it was mentioned here (currently hunting out a copy). Sounds screwed up!
Anyway, one of the comments mentions the writer (Tom Six) has said his part two will make part one look like "My Little Pony." So there's something to look forward to in 2011 I guess.

I'm only really excited for Inception. No idea what it's about, but I trust Christopher Nolan. I'm planning on heading to the theater for that movie with absolutely no foreknowledge of the plot. Best way to enjoy his films.

I took that same approach with absolutely no knowledge of the plot upon buying the Memento DVD when it first came out in the USA. I regret not seeing Memento on the big screen...it would've made for a solid WTF!? film indeed with it's carefully teaser induced twists & turns leading to the shocking grand finale ending that the unsuspecting audience would've never seen coming.kengou wrote:I'm only really excited for Inception. The 1995 film known as "Seven" with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt mixed the detective cop genre with top notch horror/gore special EFX to put it into an elevated league of it's own. Very demented shit indeed with the mysterious John Doe character. I watched this Seven flick on the big screen without any prior knowledge of the plot and was blown away by the stunning conclusion that this John Doe character truly had the upper hand no matter what the consequences of his actions. He wins regardless of whether he lives or dies and can not be one-upped in any given circumstances however they might unfold or play out. Truly gut wrenching ending that has never been duplicated since then.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
Add me on to the inception boat. The way things are looking it'll be only the 2nd good movie I've seen this year following Toy Story 3.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
Not sure I'd say this precisely the same way, but I share the same sentiments. I was really hesitant about pixar making a new Toy Story, but they don't make bad movies, and Toy Story 3 has the series going out in style. I think it would definitely be a mistake to make a 4th though.AraraSPAMWitch wrote:Toy Story 3 is gonna sweep the oscars

Re: 2010 Movies thread
I'm one of the relative few who didn't like the second one as much as the first (stale Star Wars jokes? Seriously?), so I'm especially hesitant to see the third one...I probably will eventually (someone will drag me there), but it sounds better than I expected, for whatever that's worth.CMoon wrote:Not sure I'd say this precisely the same way, but I share the same sentiments. I love the series and am still considering giving it a chance, but damn it's hard to get past those reviews.

I saw How To Train Your Dragon at the cheap seats earlier this week. Loved it! It's the best movie I've seen this year so far. (kinda sad)
I think I like Dreamworks better than Pixar now.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
I saw Eclipse a few days ago (release night). It's not much better than anything else in that crappy series. but at least the direction is much better. it still has the problem of awful plot, awful writing, and actors that don't care of course.
All in all I was most disappointed by the crowd. My gf and I have gone to the previous 2 movies just to laugh at all the people swooning over the screen, but there wasn't much this time. I didn't even notice any nasty looks in my direction for laughing out loud during a number of 'serious' moments.

Re: 2010 Movies thread
Some of the movies are looking up compared to what we've been stuck with recently (Predators, Toy Story 3), though lately I've been quite interested in older films.
So far Army of Shadows (French, 1969) has beat the hell out of everything new I've seen recently (and it doesn't really drag despite being over two hours - and doesn't feel as old as its 1969 release date would imply), movie-wise. Then again I haven't been watching many new movies.
