NeoDS, AES/MVS emulator for NDS

Post by iatneH »

Anybody tried this? I just played some Shock Troopers, Last Resort, and Nam-1975. It runs surprisingly well with sound too! Unbelievable. Unfortunately the placement of the face buttons cramped my thumb quickly, especially with non-mappable buttons that don't match a NGCD pad, strangely.

Still a really awesome release and I can only imagine how nice future releases will be.

The MVS2PSP emu has the ability to re-map the original MVS button layout to the PSP's button layout as you wish...might want to check out that version if you have a PSP already. ^_~

I just found this.

I now have portable Twinkle Star Sprites.

Life is good.

Yeah, this is pretty amazing. Quick question though before I go nuts trying to figure this out, is there a trick to converting ROMs? I put a bunch in the NeoDSConvert folder and ran the executable but only got four files out of it, and it's not converting anything else on subsequent tries.

edit: nm I see that you need .bin files for it to work

I had that issue after it converted a few roms, too. I got around it by moving the .zip files to the root folder as well as the conversion executable. Running the exe from the root works every time for me. Then I just move it back to the Convert folder.

Yeah Pulstar works great too. It's astounding how well some of those games run. Say what you will, I had more emulations running better on the DS than on the supposedly "emu-king handheld" the PSP. NES/famicom and Mega Drive emus run nicer too on the DS, too bad that the latter has a bit a too big resolution for the DS screen.

Ok, I tried this and I tried downloading .zips with .bin files in them. Nothing works!

edit: nm I see, you need the neogeo.zip in there too.

This is a pretty incredible emulator. Haven't used it in months, but my only gripe was that you can't change any of the rom settings, i.e. difficulty, or (as is most important to me) the time limit in Windjammers. Can't stand 30 second games.

Yeah, not being able to change settings is less than ideal but NeoDS is still great. ianteH, are you sure the version you have doesn't allow for button remapping? Mine does and the option's listed right on the bottom screen.

I haven't tried this in ages. I lost my NDSL when it fell out of my coat pocket on an airplane, I replaced it with a DSi and Acekard 2i. I can't recall getting NeoDS to work, I remember launching it from Moonshell on my SuperCard thingie, and I couldn't get Moonshell working on my Acekard.

I could very well have been using an old version, so I guess it's time to get the latest one anyway. The MVS emulator on the Dingoo A320 works alright too and that's what I've been playing mostly due to the system's smaller profile, which is the other reason i haven't bothered much with NeoDS. Thanks for the heads-up though!
