A seemingly ordinary NES, but wait.

(1) Disabled lockout chip and new 72 pin connector:

Games work with little difficulty, making good pin contact and no more blinking power LED and flashing screens.

(2) RGB output and resistor mod for compatibility:

Stock PPU has been replaced with an RC2C03B/G and an amp so the signal provide a sharp RGB picture output. The picture output is sharp and clear through a scaler unit to VGA, or on a dedicated 15khz RGB monitor. An additional 68pf capacitor mod increases compatibility from most games to nearly all of them.

Image

(3) Multiple video format output and cable compatibility:

Image

The amplified RGB output is run through a JROK 4.1 encoder, which provides additional video output of component, svideo, and composite to work on multiple TV types. The mono output is also duplicated to proper white/red audio jacks.

Standard connector types are used. The RGB passthrough and an additional mono sound output are hooked to an 8 pol DIN connector, using the Genesis 1/Sega Master System pinout. It is compatible with any off the shelf RGB SCART cable for Genesis/SMS.

Image

Image

(4) Powerpak compatibility:

Image

The system was modded to work with the retroUSB powerpak(RGB NES does not work with it, without modification) so the system plays FDS games, plays NSFs, english translated roms, hacks, etc etc. Special mapper chips like VRC6 are also fully supported due to a 47k resistor mod between pins 3 and 9 of the NES expansion port.

(5) BLUE power LED mod

This one is mostly for fun.

Special thanks to DewmanSNK for doing some excellent work on this console.

Holy shit, that's incredible.

How much did that end up costing you, in the end, if I may ask?

Got my first stunt kite, entry-level Prism Nexus. Still waiting for a good windy day to take it for a flight though.

A seemingly ordinary NES, but wait.
That's sweet!...

I only started modding a few months ago, but it's fun. First mod I did was a SNES Star Ocean cartridge with the english translation patch. Had to buy a Vista compatible EPROM writer and empty EPROM's, all the solder equipment, and 2 SFC Star Ocean cartridges (I fried the first cartridge) to make one. So it cost me a small fortune. But it was worth it... :P

But the best mod I did so far was to put the Devcast bios on a retail Dreamcast. The Devcast boot logo looks sweet on a retail DC. :D

What guides did you use for these mods, and where did you find them?... Would love to try them out myself.

I just had too much stuff to pay so I had to forget the whole thing for a while, but if that cab is what I passed... I already regret it
It looks almost brand new! Congrats!

That NES is ace too, but tbh I 'd love to have all that stuff in a fami instead.

I won't say exactly, but I can say a heck of a lot less than this:

Most of the information can be found on these two sites forums:

http://nfggames.com/forum2/

http://nesdev.parodius.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=9

acem77 can be credited with discovering some of the more obscure mods such as replacing the chip to get the powerpak working in RGB. I again have to credit DewmanSNK for doing a great job on my NES.
ZOM wrote:That NES is ace too, but tbh I 'd love to have all that stuff in a fami instead.
I originally had the same idea for my AN-505RD sharp famicom twin, due to the FDS drive it has included. It ended up with an RGB mod, but there wasnt enough space inside the case for all the other pcbs(jrok, sync cleaner), and heat would be more of a concern. Perhaps it could be done on an original famicom deck, though with the FDS external I feel in that case an HES unidapter for my NES will give me the same functionality.

A guy on nesdev has been talking about releasing an NES expansion port dongle that enables the use of 15 pin FC accessories, but until then my AN-505 will stay in service for the Japanese submachine gun and whack a mole mat accessories I have.

And I couldn't wait any longer. Bought a Prism 4D and took it out for the first flight yesterday - the wind was even worse than my Nexus' maiden flight as the air was completely calm, punctuated by 4-5 seconds of breeze from a different direction each time, so it's not like I could even run around with it. Not that I had much space to do that anyway, using 50ft lines, and on a small-ish triangular field with buildings on one side, trees on another, and a road on the third side. I should probably pick up a set of 20ft lines sometime. Or find a better flying spot.

A vintage tote bag, for traveling with my modded NES:

Not quite mint condition, but it should work fine.

I ordered this the day before someone on digitpress listed his NES hardshell rental case and I bought that as well. Doh. Well the bag will be a nice collectible anyway.

Funny how things turn out. Just last night I got an uncontrollable urge to play some F-Zero. So, off I went to craigslist, and scored a Japanese GameCube, with 2 official controllers, 1 Hori memory card, and the official component cable :!: for only $35. Already a sweet price for the component cable alone, but the system is also chip modded and has a replacement case which allows regular-sized DVDs. I was given the original case along with the system, though strangely neither case has the four screws in the bottom...

Later today I'll be picking up a pair of Wavebirds which ironically will cost me slightly more than that system bundle. Probably will try to source a GameBoy Player also, it will be the third one I've owned, hopefully I won't be so silly to sell it again

Wavebirds work on the Wii and therefore are still popular.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

To the penny. A bit much for a very simple bike, but I'm 30 in a couple of days, so I decided to treat myself. It's been 26 years since I got a bike for my birthday, and I'm too old to get one as a present now...

It's lovely quality.

I got the 2010 version - it's soon to be re-released as the 2011 version. Exactly the same bike asa far as I know, but the name will change from Avenue to Avenge.

I just can't wait to leave work and go for a ride!

I bet it's not as noisy as when I used to ride trials bikes, and I put tar on my rims so that I could get that at low speeds it's almost like digital, only freewheeling or completely locked with nothing in between. Any time I braked lightly while rolling you could probably hear it from 3 or 4 blocks away or further.

I still have that giant brick of tar somewhere that I got from some random roofers...

Always wondered what riding a 24" is like, I've never had one. Always been 26" and 20" for me.
