Infinite Space- Worthwhile?

Was looking into this game, since it's made by Platinum. But I can't quite get what it's all about? I know you build ships, and do battle. Can someone describe the battle system?

I really couldn't get into this game at all but as far as I could tell the main strategy in doing battle issue "move" commands to your ships controlling the distance they are from enemy ships. Depending on how far away from the ship your ships are they are allowed to use different weapons (Each weapon has different ranges). While this goes on you have a command gauge that will charge and obviously discharge when you issue a command to your ships (other than moving them). So to be successful you need to move your ships to the appropriate distances(To use certain weapons) and the appropriate times (Making sure your command gauge is full) and outmaneuver your opponents ships.

Like I said though, I probably played it for a few hours and got sick of it. The battles are slow in my opinion, the graphics are meh, and I really didn't care for the gameplay although from what I read a lot of people are enjoying it. Just not my cup of tea.
