Recently picked up a Genny RGB SCART cable that has these two cables at the end. From what I understand they're termed "AMP" I can't exactly figure out how I should use them. Whenever I connect this cable to my Genesis I get a glaring picture. I wondered if it was either because the AMP wasn't plugged in or if the cable itself was PAL.
According to my Coosis converter, the region detected was NTSC. I trust it because it was able to identify my friends SNES SCART lead as a PAL cable so it can't be that.
I'm thinking the reason for this unessesary brightness is on a count of the red and black cables aren't plugged in. But I wouldn't even begin to know where I to plug them in at. If anyone can shed some light on the matter I'm open to suggestions.
Sega Genesis RGB SCART lead with amp
Re: Sega Genesis RGB SCART lead with amp
sounds like an Audio connection to me (amp = amplifier), especially since the Mega Drive's RGB Signal does not need any boosting. If you the picture's too bright on your setup (which can happen) just solder resistors into the R/G/B lines.Recently picked up a Genny RGB SCART cable that has these two cables at the end. Re: Sega Genesis RGB SCART lead with amp
If you have a Mega Drive with a Sony CXA instead of the crappy samsung chip, you need to solder 75Ohm resistors along with 220uF caps on each the R, G, and B line to get a "perfect" 75Ohm RGB signal (according to sony's datasheet, at least). Like already pointed out, the AMP bit is probably audio stuff, probably a stereo amp - If you're lucky you got a premade crystal clear audio amp...
...but that wouldn't really be something you'd cram into a RGB cable. heh.
