Question about 360 HD Transferring- USA to J

Post by evil_ash_xero »

Well, the new XBox 360 seems to not be compatible with our old hard drives, so we'll have to use the same kind of transferring method that we had to use when you bought a new hard drive for your old 360.

Problem is, I had a U.S. hard drive, and a J machine, which were compatible, but the software was region locked, so I had to move all my saves to my memory card, which was annoying, but I was able to do it.

With this thing, I won't be able to do that. I plan on getting one of these once my J one breaks down(i'm sure it will sometime), so what can I do here?

Did anyone who had a J Xbox and a U.S. hard drive have this problem before, and was able to maybe just get a Japanese disc or something?

Or do you think the ones of us who have mix and match systems and hard drives will be out of luck on that one, and lose all our saves?

... huh? I've never had any problems having both US and Japanese saves on a single storage unit.

I've never had to transfer stuff between HDs or whatnot before, but I keep Japanese and US stuff from 2 different 360s on one hard drive without any problems.

What i'm referring to is when I bought the U.S. hard drive, for my J system, I wanted to transfer the old saves from my older U.S. hard drive to the new one. Well, the little transfer device that the new hard drive came with, came with a disc also. And it was region locked. So, I couldn't transfer that way. And I had to do it with a flash card instead.

Hopefully that's clearer..or whatever.

You can use a USB flash drive or an external USB HDD to transfer files from one system to the other.

Yeah, you can use a USB storage device. Make sure you use a blank one as the 360 will create its own partition (up to 16GB) on it.
