Music is :/ but the visuals are nice. Apparently they showed off more in the Ubisoft conference, but the gameplay in the trailer makes it look like a slightly less interesting version of Rez which is :/ :\ :/

So, back to E3:

Sad but true. I'm pretty hyped for that game, but nothing else in the conference interested me. I guess the message of that conference was that if you don't like shooters or looking like a lunatic, 360 isn't the console for you. Can't wait for the other two conferences tomorrow (especially Nintendo's). Very excited about the new Zelda, and quite curious about the 3DS.

The new Kid Icarus looks like Sin and Punishment. Seems like a strange move, but it's been rumoured in the past. Kirby looks fantastic.

I must say I'm bloody disappointed that the thing is barely different looking than the DS Lite, which is one of the most uncomfortable handhelds I have used. The addition of the analog stick is a plus, but now it looks like the D-Pad will be even more of a pain to use. The slightly bigger 3D screen reminds me of the schizophrenic designs of some of Nintendo's past hardware. Why not make them the same size? It's not like we'll benefit much with size increase that small. Why they didn't make it one large screen is beyond me because I'd take one large screen over 2 tiny ones any day.

Nintendo's gonna go the cheap way, always. Wish the screens were closer together tho.

Kirby really does look amazing. DK too, and I don't ordinarily give a shit about DK (except for JB and '94)
Actually a lot of stuff I cared about. Zelda looks a bit too Twilight Princess-y, but less grimdark (which suits the series better). The motion controls looks like they will work great ... when they work at all.

Recent Zelda games are too puzzley and no finesse required. Remember the original Zelda? That game not only requires knowing how but also executing well to defeat bosses and enemies.

I still want to see more environments that don't look like generic sci-fi space station interiors, but the lack of hokey exposition, dialogue or other NPC interaction in this trailer has certainly been encouraging.

Some of the Lords of Shadow environments are looking lovely, but I'm finding it immensely difficult to develop any interest whatsoever in these character designs. Well, apart from the BIG FAT MAN, of course.

I think Sony killed too much of its own thunder with the pre-show announcements. People already knew about Little Big Planet 2, Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5 in 3D and the like well ahead of the show. The Move worked relatively well, but they just showed one game, which probably means that most of the stuff for it is early in development. Sony will probably have to do a better job of differentiating its product from Nintendo since it's very samey.

The highlight of the show for me was the announcement of the new Twisted Metal game and the freaking ice cream truck appearing on stage. That is how you should announce a game .

Btw, did I mention they announced Raizing Storm for the Move? All I need is Sega to come forward and port House of the Dead 4.

hopefully they add a stage or 2 though....awesome game, but at 3 stages, a bit short for a home game experience

With the Playstation Mic you can shoot the baddies and sing karaoke between scenes and that is total win. My bro the butler came in right after the conference, dropped me a package with the game and I've been shooting baddies and singing the US of A anthem all afternoon.

Overall, it seems like a pretty weak showing this year from everyone. Nintendo has a few things that looks like they might be decent, but MS and Sony seem to be spending way too much time on their fancy new toys and not enough time on stuff people will actually play. PSMove just seems like a blatant Wii rip-off, and Kinect looks technically interesting, but has practically no substance behind it, and I have yet to see any evidence that 3D is going to be anything besides a rehashed fad from the Fifties. In short, it looks like I won't need to allocate much of my budget to gaming for the rest of the year.

In fact, I've recently found myself seriously considering just getting and playing the last few PS3 games I'm interested in then selling it off. I suspect I probably wouldn't miss it much.
