Well, Rosa is from California, so they're going for that Valley Girl thing(if that's even around any more...i'm old). So, that makes sense.

And really, for those who haven't played the game, there is one conversation with Sakura before you fight her(as shown above), and then the girls get together at a camp fire,and each one says one or two things. Then they say a few things while charging the castle(as shown above), and there is a little bit at the end. It's nothing.

Why didn't they just translate them normally? They did NOT say any of that in the JP version. Their translation with Agarest seems perfectly fine, so I find this a bit strange.

Look, it's true that this has no impact on gameplay, which is fundamentally the whole reason for buying Death Smiles IF YOU'RE A SHMUPS FAN. But what if you're not? What if you're the guy sitting on the fence about Death Smiles, or worse, one of the few people who saw the US trailer and actually became intrigued? How would you look at the hokey (almost to the point of being incomprehensible) translation then?

It's not the end of the world, but as Cave's first big US home release there's a lot riding on the quality of the translation. If Death Smiles doesn't sell then we're not going to see further localizations and that should matter to all of us.

We've been folly to wank translations for countless years (all your base) and it's made sod all diference, even in games which rely on story like RPGs. They tried with the translation and failed. No worries, anyone that buys this and isn't a veteran will probably remember it more for that than the game anyway.

Seriously, why didn't they even roughly just translate the dialogue? This also makes me think they won't be including an original Japanese voice track, when it won't match up to the subtitles AT ALL. It'd be like a dubbed kung-fu movie where they're just saying random shit that has nothing to do with what's actually coming out of their mouthes. And if they do an English full voice to go with this....ugh. What. The. Hell.
