Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
I'm heavily addicted to this game after Fire-bug recommended it. I love the funky tunes, the addictive puzzling and all that.
I'm totally useless at it though. I assume you chain upwards, so starting with 1's, 5's, 10's etc.. But its so puzzling. Time is your enemy so the least amount of travelling is obviously your best bet. With Puzzle bobble I found my technique, with Mr Driller I found my way around the blocks, but in this game, I last less than 5 minutes and the time seems to go slow as well. Its like i'm playing in slow motion.
anyway great game, great use of 82 megs on an MVS cart. It actually feels like a higher meg game.

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
I tried the game briefly, but honestly, I think the only way I could be any good at it is if the sprites were replaced with US currency. I just can't identify Japanese currency fast enough to be any good at it.
Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
WTF? You dont have to know anything about any currency to be good at this game its so self explanatory it might aswell punch you in the face .StarCreator wrote:I tried the game briefly, but honestly, I think the only way I could be any good at it is if the sprites were replaced with US currency. Its not quite hit your self in the punch yourself in the face simple. Once you know the basics.clp wrote:WTF? For a start you can change the coins so they display the value rather than what JP yen would look like. If you have an EU or US MVS motherboard this should be done auto or its something you can change in the options. I cant play it displaying JP face i have to have the numbers displayed. This may be where your going wrong.
If its not then this may help a little.
Five qty one coins make a five , two qty five coins make a ten and so on. As long as you get it though your head you cannot say add ten qty one coints and get a ten then your fine. If you do that it will just delete unecessary change off the board and make your one coin. Its been a while since i played it but its a lot of fun. This maybe a ovbious sugestion but Magical drop 3 is similar as it changes coins for colours and takes out the exchange/change mechanic it also has in VS mode a quota bar which means there are two ways to win killing your enemy by filling there side of the screen or just out reach your quota faster than them which i think is based on moving sheer qty of magical drops (I think its been a while since ive played it) The game is a whole lot faster and a lot easier to pick up.

Okay, yeah, I've only seen it with the actual Japanese currency, not the number values. That looks a hell of a lot more playable.

I thought that the only coins replaced in the Japanese version were the 5's - that's the way it is in my PS1 copy anyways, everything else still has the numbers on it.StarCreator wrote:Okay, yeah, I've only seen it with the actual Japanese currency, not the number values. Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
It's been a very long time since I've tried it so I really can't say for sure what it looked like, but I distinctly remember having difficulty identifying the currency. But it could be my old brain playing tricks on me for all I know...
I might try it again someday but I think I'm more interested in picking up Magical Drop 3 again personally. Regardless of how the currency is represented, I still find it a lot more complicated than matching colors.

That's because it is more complicated than matching colors.StarCreator wrote:Regardless of how the currency is represented, I still find it a lot more complicated than matching colors.

It seems to me that Magical Drop is more about speed, Money Puzzle Exchanger is more about depth. I always wondered how fast good MPE players play... I'd think it's not as fast as MD, but if the internet has taught me anything, it's that there are some freaks of nature out there.

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
This game is endless amounts of fun. I got the PSone version from the Japanese PSN store, and I'm pretty sure it uses numbers on the coins except for the green and gold ones.
Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
I've got a physical copy of the PS1 port (Japanese coins/text only) and it's easy enough to work out - the different value coins are different colours!
I'm not claiming to being any good btw, but that's down to my lack of skill not confusion with the coins

I always preferred magical drop 3, but it is a good game for sure. I like the rendered spinning coin on the intro, lovely.
Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
getting people to play it with you is hard though. Magical drop 3 people can pick it up pretty much instantley but money puzzle has that extra mechanic which turns up the dificulty for n00bs. I know one maybe two peoplein my 50 mile radius who plays this at a level where I can actually get a bit of fun out of a match. Not that im that good, Just there are so few people who play this its sad. Company closed down becuase of this game as magical drop three took them to cort over the game being too similar magical drop 3.
*the more you know gif to be inserted here later*

It's a LOT like Magical Drop, but it's not as fast because chaining requires more thought.D wrote:Or just like magical drop?

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
Is there any hard evidence of this? I know Wiki mentions it, but GameFAQs lists a game released by Face a few years after this supposedly happened (of course, GFAQs could be wrong too).Lordstar wrote:Company closed down becuase of this game as magical drop three took them to cort over the game being too similar magical drop 3.
Btw, the Game Boy port does exist, so Wiki is correct on that one.

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
New record in solo, 4 mins 59 seconds. I didn't look at the girls this time either. Was tired though.
This game is hard. Once the rows hit a certain speed coming down your a gonna. I would even say the game is broken. The highest score is 30 by default. My highest is 25 I think, in 3rd position.
MVS version tested.

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
That video doesn't make sense. The level is set to 4 you can clearly see it as the bottom, however the difficulty suggests its much harder. The speed of which the coins come down is nigh on impossible to clear. However the player does it I don't know.
In that video I wouldn't last 30 seconds. So don't be "wow'd" by my time of 4.59mins. I'm also playing level 4.

Re: Money puzzle exchanger (Got any tips?)
You can double-tap down on the stick to make the game drop a row without having to wait. This is kind of necessary for extending chains. The coins aren't actually falling that fast on their own.neorichieb1971 wrote:That video doesn't make sense. Yeah he is pulling down the coins to keep an amount on the board so he can keep his combo up. I do that but i dont pull it that close. I am not that quick.
