No 'this' is classic internet people. Someone states their opinion and a few home truths and people start bitching about it.
No one has 'moaned' about the logo and it is funny that it looks just like the ebay one but apparently it is bitching and moaning to point that out.
No ones stopping anyone using this auction site. Chill TF out.
New video games auction online.
that´s all fine, but when you´re selling stuff that only appeals to a small number of people via auctions, you need to maximize perception to get a halfway reasonable price. Let´s say this new auction house (which is something like the 4th or 5th I´ve seen in recent months) becomes a competitor sharing market 50:50 with ebay. This means many people will only navigate one or the other, effectively cutting your potential buying audience in half. This may sound like a good deal for buyers, but they will spend twice the time to search for whatever they are looking for, and due to the reduced audience, auctions´ starting prices will be higher. And from my dealings with ebay's "customer service" another option can only be a good thing, The never ending pirate and spam auctions are something that we shouldn't have to put up with but ebay place more importance on their fee's they recieve from them rather than thinking of their members or owners of copyright.
It doesn't need to be a revolution, However a better knowledgable service is a nice option to have.
So don´t moan about people lacking idealism, when they´re actually acting against not only their own, but general user interests by supporting a 2nd auction platform. The only one suffering is the 2nd auction platform, but that´s what happens when you start a business no one wants.
And whatever new auction site gets into business, the moment they become a serious trading platform, they will charge fees just like ebay, because maintenance of such a big service does cost a lot of money.

I'm pretty late to this party but wanted to add a few bits if I may.
VGA was setup to offer an alternative, a place for like-minded gamers to buy, sell and trade. VGA was not setup as a direct competitor to Ebay, otherwise we'd sell teddy bears and $50 Rolex watches as well
.
No one can take away the incredible success of Ebay, it seemed to arrive at the right time and has done just about everything right for it's members. However, there are niggles, especially when it comes to games..and VGA hopes to address some of these by perhaps being that little bit more personal and flexible. Likeminded gamers in a place that specialises in their favorite product, surely that's a good thing.
It isn't about convincing people to use the service, it is more about letting them know it's there. Have a look, dont have a look. By dismissing VGA gamers could be missing out on something they've been looking for or VGA may just have the right buyer trawling the listings looking for that one product you have to sell. It's about putting buyers and sellers together, VGA is simply an alternative place to do this.
It is free for now, this is to let people have a go and try it out. If it works for you then that's great, if it doesn't then it wont have cost a penny.
Naturally there will be charges, but VGA dont plan on having listing fees anytime soon so there would only be charges if something sold and the charges would be considerably less than most are used to.
VGA have already been removing pirated items from listings, sometimes within minutes of posting. This is part of our committment to the industry we all love. We're due to put out a statement from ELSPA (www.elspa.com) later this week showing our on-going committment to keeping piracy from VGA, this can be seen as a pretty major endorsement and one that will enable VGA to continue growing throughout the coming months.
We dont expect people to jump ship and sing about VGA, but all we ask is people have a look, maybe try it out, give us some opinions and feedback and even suggestions, we have already implemented some features following member suggestions.
Thanks for your time, I just wanted to level this thread out a little. We're all gamers here so I'm sure we can have level headed discussions
for your info:-
A site update was completed this weekend a few of the new features include:-
Last Chance Offer (for items that didn't make reserve price)
Ask seller question (publicly) - seller specific as to whether public or not
Item Watching
Great new store features and control
Some viewing changes, like Recently Bid on now shows highest current bid
Members only announcement area
Voucher system
etc etc

The logo was always going to be a toughie. VGA of course is the name, so along with the gaming/computer related VGA theory we also decided to use Red, Green and Blue, RGB (I'm sure you get it) so with VGA as a name and colours that really needed to be Red, Green and Blue..well, what can you do99pence wrote:

Some may be interested to take a look to see how VGA is progressing. Many more US members onboard, US PR has started (story on next-gen.biz) and some custom made handhelds are currently on the site, a Jag and Dreamcast and they look fantastic (and they're not mine)
I just wanted to give this a bump to let people know VGA isn;t a one month wonder but is in this for the long haul and slowly but surely positive word is spreading
