:?:
You're in Germany, and I'm French actually : I can see you on the Red Orion leaderboard (you're 5th with 115 millions, I'm right behind you with 112 millions) but I don't see your name on the Blue Nova ranking.
You sure you have uploaded your score ?

[There was a post here !]

@SFKhoa : YOU are a naughty boy ! (can't even see your score !)

And indeed, if you play in Canada and your name is in my European DSi, rankings seem to be the same for Europe and America... Shame, they've done separated rankings for Japan...

Hydeux, I've made one of my replays public, so you can view it now. Random Mode, Blue ship.
Make sure you learn from it well cuz when I beat my score again, I'm making it back to Private.

Bought this game on a whim on the US store after hearing about it yesterday. It's pretty fun, but they made it too hard to lose ships.

Maybe you're just really good at getting cubes (or you're using the red ship, which auto-bombs for you if you get hit).
1ups are gained after you get 1000 cubes, 3000 cubes, and every 5000 cubes after that.

I was using the default ship, the one that does a bomb every time I get hit. I beat it with six lives left and a max chain of 1400 or so. I got hit more than five times... I guess it just doesn't feel right to play poorly but still not lose any lives.

Or it could be the fact I wasn't really giving it my full attention. DSi sound muted, half paying attention to netflix in the background.

If you want a better challenge, try using the Blue ship as there's no bomb and you die when you get hit.

thanks, had a watch and that'll definitely help with the chaining :) which i need to work on as i didn't know thats what gives the extra lives.

been playing this loads recently, think it's great, not too bothered about score at the moment still trying for the manic 1cc. (edit, just got the 1cc and 3rd on the pattern/manic leaderboard :))

Is this game worth getting in lieu of losing all flashcart usability for an unforeseen amount of time? Is it better overall than say, Ketsui DS?

Ketsui DS is worth getting just for the cool Ketsui Superplay DVD bonus alone. Just playing on "Extra" mode is insane with just two lives given to 1CC it. With the ability to save up to three different personal replays on the DS cartridge itself for posterity, it's a keeper. It's awesome to play it when on the go. Looks great on a black colored DS Lite variant handheld.

what are you talking about? you can use flashcarts just fine.
you might have to buy a new one, though.
(oh noes, 12$ for an acekard 2i, who could possibly pay this much?)

And woot PCEFX, what is that all about with you just taking random keywords and blabbing your knowledge about them without answering any question asked? I've seen that a few times from you, recently.

Probably not worth posting, but I found this funny. He basically complains that the game has a somewhat-deep scoring system that he's too dumb to learn.

Read that earlier today. The "game reviewer doesn't get/doesn't want to learn a shmup's system and so dismisses it offhand" is so prevalent that it's almost come to be some kind of stupid cliche. I'm curious--honestly so--why fighting games, another genre with generally complicated techniques required for high-level play, are generally so well received in gaming media and have a more forgiving treatment by reviewers.

cause reviewers can mash buttons and SHORYUKEN!!!! their way to success in arcade mode. also, it's cool (for the time being) to like fighting games, and game reviewers want to be cool in the worst way.

Sad part is that it's not particularly deep.
Takes about 5 plays or so to figure out.

Yeah I'm just being cheap, I have the DSTTi and last I checked its not compatible with 1.4 so I've held off updating so far.
maybe PCEFX! is actually a web bot who looks for key words in posts and makes a preset response from a giant knowledge database
I don't mind, its like those little "the more you know" snippets that used to air on tv long ago. I propose he put this in his sig

Weird. The same guy loved ESPGaluda II...which has one of the most ludicrously complicated scoring systems I've ever encountered.

That is strange, but I wouldn't be surprised if he were influence by one or all of the following factors
a) Galuda's pretty graphics
b) An irrational love for anything related to the iPhone (seems to be common these days)
c) Brian Ashcraft told him Galuda was a cool game, and he would pout if he dissed the game
