Man alive do I want one of these now haha. I've been toying around with different ways to hook my consoles up to my NAC and this sounds so perfect. If anyone gets bored with theirs, feel free to PM me.

Best $105 spent to get one of viletim's Scart to Jamma convertors which is a mere drop in the bucket to play your favorite console games on a candy cab setup. Even watching DVDs in glorious RGB is super razor sharp...anime titles are super bright and crystal clear.

I too want one. Didn't realise how much of a fus plugging stuff in was without VGA.
Must be even worse without 31kHz monitor support.

Looks quite sharp despite being only 480i on a dual sync 15kHz/24kHz Nanao MS9 arcade monitor setup. Fellow shmupper viletim has mentioned that his Scart to Jamma adpater only supports 480i using the optional Euro Scart or Japanese RGB input from said gaming console.speedlolita wrote:I too want one. Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
Hey guys,
I recently bought one of these from Brentsg. I just tried out my Saturn with it today (I don't have scart cables for any other systems yet). It works perfectly and looks great on my Aero City. However, I tried it on my Super Neo 29 Candy, and I'm getting sound, but just barely getting any video, and the video that is coming through is extremely dark. I've tried the resistor connected to 5v and ground with the same result. I'm wondering if maybe it's the scart cable, even though it works fine on the Aero city. Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

did you try the brightness (not the big contrast knob)? it's small and requires a small flathead screwdriver.Joe T. wrote:Hey guys,

Well I'll be damned, Antron.
I'm tardo and didn't even think about that. Just made an adjustment, and it's working perfectly! Thanks!!!!!
I appreciate it.

Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
The reason it looked fine on the Aero is probably because it has a clamp circuit, but the Neo 29 does not. So, you shouldn't have to adjust it back for the Aero (it will lock-on to the brightness). Monitors like your Neo and my Egret 29 are the reason this adapter needed to exist in the first place.Joe T. wrote:Well I'll be damned, Antron.

Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
That's reassuring to know. I'm getting pretty hyped about this thing now that it's all coming together. I'm hoping to have Dreamcast, PS2 and possibly 360 playable on my cabinets by the end of the week. Thanks again for the advice!
Update: I've been playing Under Defeat on my cabinet today, and just want to add that this converter is truly awesome.

Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
Anyone else had an issue with off colors on video from SCART? When I first got the adapter, everything looked fine. But I recently hooked up my PS2 via SCART for the first time in a while, and the video now looks way yellow. I have video coming in from an Emotia straight to the screw terminals as well, and that looks good, it's just video from SCART that seems to be an issue. It happens on both my PS2 and my Saturn (tried both to make sure it wasn't a cable issue).

Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
I haven't had any issues in dealing with Japanese Scart cable setup with both PSX and PS2 console using viletim's Scart to Jamma adapter. Of course, I'm using a 3rd-party Japanese PSX Scart cable setup and not the official SCEI produced PSX Japanese Scart cable variant.
Try re-plugging the Scart interface again and see if that works. Sometimes, I'll get some "off color issues" when plugging into the XRGB-2 with the Japanese Scart cables but replugging them in until they work 100% usually does the trick for me.

No luck. I've unplugged and re-plugged countless times to no effect. I'm wondering if I need those replacement capacitors or something. I actually ordered a set to have if/when I needed them, but of course, I can't find them now

Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
Eh, got a roundabout solution. Just took a spare wire, disassembled the SCART lead, and wired the Blue line (the one not coming through) directly to the screw terminal. Works like a charm now.

looking at the circuit diagram that means you are bypassing the blue amp.
also, remembering back in this tread you are not the only person who had one color refuse to connect via SCART. before it turned out to be that SCART cable and the SCART input not playing nicely. it resolved with a new cable (even though the old was fine on a TV)

Yellow means that you've connected red and green video, but not BLUE. (Yellow+blue = white, where yellow = red + green).drunkninja24 wrote:Anyone else had an issue with off colors on video from SCART? When I first got the adapter, everything looked fine. Yeah, I may pick another one up here soon. Would there be any issues (besides loose wires of course) with running it the way I am right now though? I certainly don't want to damage anything.antron wrote:drunkninja24 wrote:Eh, got a roundabout solution. Re: Console --> Arcade monitor adapter (SOLD OUT)
When a single video channels stops working the most likey cause is the either the associated input coupling capacitor or the video amp IC itself. According to my records, you've got a board with the dodgy caps... ah, I should explain what this is about for the benifit of others.drunkninja24 wrote:Yeah, I may pick another one up here soon. The first few adapters sent out (those who ordered within three days of release) contained some components - tantalum capacitors - of dubious quality. The adapters work correctly but the components were out of spec and I was worried that this may lead to premature failures. A notice was sent out to all involved and so were replacement capacitors.
As I was saying... if you can find an electrolytic capacitor of any value between 1 and 100 uF and temporarily solder it across the blue input coupling cap (it's the one directly under the "RGB21" text on the underside of the board) you would quickly find out if it is only that capacitor to blame.
While shorting between the input and the output of the amplifier may not cause any more damage in its current, non-working state, I generally don't recommend it. Also your blue video will be disproportional to the red and green, though you may not notice because Your Eyes Suck at Blue.

Gotcha, yeah, I'll give that a shot. I actually got a set of replacement caps from you for just this kind of situation, but of course, now I can't find them

I've been overseas for the past four weeks, with little time for work on this project. Now I'm back on the job, but have no news so far.

That's interesting. I could tell right away there was less detail in the blue-deficient image, but it's subtle (looks like a loss of contrast i.e. an out-of-focus photograph). Much more so than the green change.viletim wrote:Also your blue video will be disproportional to the red and green, though you may not notice because Your Eyes Suck at Blue.

Mine works great with my Egret II. Now all I need are some hacked 360 pads. Maybe I'll start looking at some tutorials. Just gotta pick up some soldering equipment.
If anybody can send me a hacked 360 pad feel free to pm me.

howdy viletim its DEAN , when you are in the designing stage of the next Adapter can you implement a GAMMA dial to raise and lower the GAMMA levels...........and also a JAMMA socket like the 1st design so we can connect a JAMMA Fingerboard to the new Adapter for hacked Pads ?.......
