They won't have to worry about writing a script with her in it, then her saying she won't be in it, then her saying she wants to be in it at the last minute and them having to restart the whole damn cycle.
Lovely lady and actress, though, I wouldn't mind getting turned into a dog with her sometime if you knowwharimean

I liked 3, but not really 4. I've said it before and I'll say it again: David Fincher is the most talented director to touch the series. He didn't have the best script in the world to work with.
And how is it that the real Bishop appears to Ripley at the end of Alien 3 and tries to convince her in giving him the Alien Queen, when he had actually died at the Predator pyramid in Antartica over 300 years before?!
I always took it that he was bullshiting about not being an android. His ear and half the back of his head is almost entirely off just before she takes the plunge, and he's still very lucid.
I just watched that part again. In the extended version of Alien 3, after Bishop is hit on the back of the head by the crow bar, he holds his ear while his facial expression gives out the impression that he is in slight pain, but only for 2-3sec, he then immediately turns as if nothing had happened and shouts at Ripley in agony, trying to convince her to give him the Alien.
How ever in both versions his blood is red, not white like the rest of the Androids and he is indeed very lucid regardless the obviously serious blow.
So, it is not clear whether he’s an Android or not.

Super secret informations available on the Internet.
That's pretty much what happened with Alien III. Ghostbusters has had similar problems (though I think after II everybody knew she was off any future iteration of the series so that wasn't holding back the script.)
its true that actors sticking there nose in and trying to do things other than acting is a bad idea. Weaver has been a creative director (at some level) on the last two alien films.

Weaver also tried to weasel her way aboard the Ghostbusters video game that came out a year or two ago after turning it down because (get this) Murray and Ramis were confirmed to be involved with the project (or something to that effect). By that time though, the game was already well into development so she was assed out. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/sigou ... game-role/

She was one of the producers for Alien III.

I don't have anything against Sigourney Weaver, but I never saw her as essential to either series. A new Alien film would probably work better without someone who's fought these things every time before and knows them inside and out. And Ghostbusters is just about four guys busting ghosts. Dana wasn't much more than a love interest for Murray to play off of.

Wow, I was starting to rethink being harsh on her because all I knew for sure was that she was not on Aliens III and ditched Ghostbusters through the '00s (and I thought the Ghostbusters III game project, consistently).
Never mind, that's pretty horrible. It makes me wonder why she didn't just stick with the projects. Big franchises, she can still act, and if she can deal with Bill Murray - politics or something?
Edit: LOL @ this from the Joystiq comments thread: "Forget about Sigourney - what about Rick Moranis?" LOL

This doesn't sound too bad to me. Without them you don't know if you'd be swimming in a sea of d-list voice actors, but with them you'd be assured some mark of quality or at least have a fun time reminiscing.
About Alien 3: The thing that ruined this movie for me wasn't so much the shocker at the beginning but the bland visual design. There weren't really any cool objects and the environments just looked like modern day plants and boiler rooms.

Would it be a fair guess to say that's because they were? Except I thought they looked more like late 1800s to mid-century plants and boiler rooms, lol let's make everything rusty eh that's as good as the Aliens APC
