Shooters Solitude

Post by ~Kid Icarus~ »

OK I've tried searching and can't see anything on this home brew game (the word shooters bings up 7gazillion hits)

Anyway, I was browsing Danny's hi-score thred for Warning Forever and noticed this game on the download page for WF (scroll down).

http://www18.big.or.jp/~hikoza/Prod/

Not sure if it's the full game, but after a quick go it seems pretty awesome and possibly by the same guy(s) that coded Cho Ren Sha? They seem very similar, although this one has snazzy 3d backdrops.

Check it out!

EDIT: Damn this is tough. From watching the demo I found out you get mulitple weapons ala Silvergun. It also features a colour chaining system too. Very neat.

The game is *only* one level... and the relative difficulty of designing levels leading up to a boss triggered the idea and design of Warning Forever. It is of course coded by Hikoza.T.Ohkubo, who did WF, a clue would be finding it on his site ;)

Anyway, I just stumbled upon this old Hikoza title and can't get it running under Vista with the standard tricks (compat. modes, running as admin, etc). Anyone ever have luck running this one?

I know. What makes it worse is that it's a cruddy Dell laptop with 1 gig of ram. :| New comp will likely be a desktop with either Win7 or XP and I'll flush out the laptop...maybe run Ubuntu on it for fun.

But Shooters Solitude! Anyone got the deets on it?

Well, I can't answer your question, but this thread just makes me kinda sad this game was never finished. This is the game that only had one stage right? I remember actually playing it for score for some reason, really short like a caravan that way I guess.

the boss in it was quite a hard one to kill at times. mostly because depending on HOW you destroyed it, it became either a total monster or a total pansy.

He says it's finished; he has no intention of updating it.

Which begs the question of why the only stage has a "Stage 1" title card when it's the only stage.

Well, because originally he planned to make more, I presume. Then he lost interest and declared it finished.
