MD/VA/DC Area Summer Shmupmeet (June 19th, 2010)

Post by Kiken »

Alright, so I guess from the responses over in the March thread it's probably better to hold this sooner rather than later. So which weekend works for everybody; the 12th or the 19th of June?

For any potential newbies, I own a plethora of consoles (as well as a Supergun) and have 5 TVs set up (2 tate, 3 yoko). If you've got a favourite joystick, bring it.

See you there. Still gotta decide on the cuisine for the evening.

On the food, if memory serves, the last three selections have been:
  • Tex/Mex
  • Chinese
  • PORK!
So... Italian this time, maybe?

I'm down with Italian 8)

Right now both days are open, but the 19th looks like the better of the two dates in that it's less likely to get pre-empted. How's everyone else's schedule?

Oh yeah, what's new this time? Just DSIIX and Ketsui EX? Anyone picking up SnR DUO? Anything I should bring other than my Horipad EX2 and 360 memory card?

Yeah, looks like DSIIX, Ketsui EX, RayStorm HD, DS MBL ver 1.1 and SnR DUO (I have this on order.. should have my copy by this coming Wednesday) are the newest releases.

I guess there's always a minute chance that SNKP and MS will surprise us with an early June release of Sky Stage.

19th. I have a work thing in San Francisco on the 10th and 11th. While I could realistically make it back in time for Saturday afternoon it's probably best not to push one's luck with air travel and tight schedules.

Well somehow it seems I will be able to make it afterall.

For Games ...

I have Dogyuun currently and can bring that if anyone wants to play it.

Zakk, can you bring your Ketsui PCB so we can swap? Meant to do that a while back but I've been busy.

For Dinner ...

- Italian ... What's good around here? I like Carabbas but that's pretty expensive. Agrodolce is okay but also pretty overpriced. I know my Dad always suggests Cafe Mileto and they have good prices.

- Indian. Haven't done this yet, and Indian food is the best food. Spice Xing down in Rockville is great. Tandoori Nights is decent too, that's in the Kentlands. There's a dozen other places all of varying degrees of quality around as well.

Well that's good to hear. And I would like to try Dogyuun. You're on a serious ToaPlan kick, aren't you?

If we're doing Indian, I got this recommendation:
Best Indian Food Around that i've had has been from India Palace, in the
fox chapel plaza, just south of the intersection of 355 and middlebrook.

I <3 them.
Wanna try?

A basement full of people that have just consumed curry....

Fine with me, I have no sense of smell!

How interested are you guys in playing Gundemonium Collection? I have a PS3 and could buy it tonight/tomorrow, though I couldn't find any PSN cards on sale =/

I only have one Dualshock 3 though, and I haven't tried my Radio Shack PS2->USB adapter yet... I guess at last resort I could return the Mayflash to stock.

Yes. I wanted to get a good look at the unit before I bought one.

Actually, I was thinking about holding the next one in October... but I'd like some confirmation on when Radirgy Noah Massive is due out (NCSX says the 15th, Play-Asia say the 28th). If NCSX are right, I'd like to hold it on the 23rd... if PA are right, I'd like to hold it on 6th of November. I wouldn't want to do one later than that since shit starts to get hectic for people around Thanksgiving.

Incidentally, we had Konami Japanese Restaurant recommended for the next shmupmeet dinner ;)
