I need to know information about this cab.

Post by Elixir »

This. It popped up locally and I'm considering it. It looks very clean, but I know virtually nothing about cabs myself. It'll end up being around $650 USD including the game, what do you guys think?

I've seen this style cab in a local arcade, I just don't know the make or reputation they have. I'm pretty sure you can rotate them so no problem there, I don't care that it only has 3 buttons and I'm fine with how it looks (well I'd probably remove VIDEO GAME I guess).

Anyway, just wondering what you guys think of this situation and if anyone out there has this cab, please let me know how you like it. Thanks guys.

If the monitor is nice, go for it. TATE mechanism for Gods sake!

I can't test it before I buy it, it's an island away from me. Still nice to see something like that here though. What do you think of the price? Tate isn't too important, I would love to get a dedicated Three Wonders cab going or something similar. It doesn't necessarily need to be the latest games, I have a feeling half of the unported Cave stuff will hit the 360 eventually anyway.

Looks like a nice cab. Personally I'd only buy it if you want to get addicted to PCB's and such. Although you probably won't get addicted to Cave PCB's, its likely that something or other will catch your attention at some point.

It looks like the cabinet has a TATE mechanism like the E2, its jamma considering the game already inside it. I'd snap it up.

Jaleco Pony Mk2 28". Looks like it's been repainted, but otherwise all good.

I can just about make out the plastic marquee holder above the speakers, which is rare in itself. If you do happen to swap the video-game acrylic out with something else, keep the original part with the cab - tape it inside or something, just in case you come to sell it at some point.

$650 is a total bargain. Well built, solid cabs.

I'd recommend seeing it first though, just to check out the monitor - it's worth spending the time/money to travel if it means you don't end up with a machine that needs a new screen. Give the seller a deposit to hold it?

If thats the actual item in the pic, the monitor looks great.

Yeah, actual item. Unfortunately, I can't see it before I buy it. Same country, different island. The flight there would end up making shipping even higher. But hey, it's not like these things come along every day.

Shipping is yet to be determined though, it could end up being up to $750 when everything is said and done. I'm still really tempted though, I'll have to sleep on it.

If you don't get it, you'll regret it surely.

He says he's sleeping on it, but you know for real that he's got a spot lined up for it, he's dreaming of playing arcade PCB's in his home and he's wondering how some Cave PCB he says he's not going to buy is fitting into the summer budget.

I'm not actually sleeping, although my clock claims it's 5am. I asked him how much shipping would be to my location and I'm waiting for a reply. Chances are he'll reply within the next 4 hours if he keeps a normal sleeping pattern (unlike myself).

Oh man.. I really want this, but like, I have barely any space. I'll have to move the chester drawers out and keep my clothes in the storage room instead of my own. I'm tempted to ask him what stick/buttons it has too, and whether it's restricted to left/right movement, but I think that's just a restrictor that can be removed. I know some Puzzle Bobble cabs are like that at an arcade here.

Apparently Puzzle Bobble 4 isn't all that pricey. 4000 yen. link. I actually have fond memories of this game, at least the N64 version which I think I still have somewhere. If it's not too hard to rotate I'll most definitely have to get Batsugun again, that game was really fun. Hmm, I don't want to end up like lukemorse1 though, I'd rather just have a select few PCBs and that's it. I'm more likely to play them that way.

Anyway yeah I'll most likely get this if everything goes according to plan, in NZ you'll see Japanese style cabs but almost never for sale, and when they are, they look like this:

Image

I have fond memories of playing this very game on a cab exactly like this, but I'd rather not own one personally.

The joysticks are very easy to replace with the ones of your choice anyway. The hardest thing to fix is the monitor, so that's your only real concern, really. It sure looks fine in that picture and the price is very nice as well. Cabinets do take up some space though, but personally I think my PCBs takes up plenty more. A good plan to keep a very small/limited collection of PCBs, I started out with just one box, then two (vert/hori) then I kinda went further. :D

He said $716 (USD, I'm converting) shipped to my door. I think I'll go for it, if there's issues I'm still happy with the price in contrast to getting it from Japan. Shipping is $766 total but he's seems to be cutting me a bit of a deal.

I was using one of these at trocadero the other day.

Beautiful cabinet, sorta wished I waited for one over the Egret II I bought due to size.

A bit ugly for my tastes, but looks like it's a solid price.
Another vote for "get it".

According to mine surely you can go for this because you like it and you know how to use it and even ready to agree with the existing features at a affordable price. So you can go for it.

I have that cab. Super easy rotation and the monitor is at a great angle. There's quite a bit of space inside, so will fit bigger boards easily.

Personally, I love the way it looks (Mickey Mouse ears and all).

Thanks for all of your input. I went ahead and bought it, and I think it was more or less a once in a lifetime opportunity. Providing I receive what I understood from the pic, I'll be happy. I'm really looking forward to it!

Congrats, I like that Cab a lot! Definitely worth rearranging a bit to make space for it.

I'll probably go for a Three Wonders board first.

Not before playing the hell out of Puzzle Bobble 4.

Since I discovered newer PCBs are a terrible investment, I'm only going to consider older games that I don't have to worry about the value of. I'll probably get Batsugun again as well.

Three Wonders is an excellent choice, be aware it has a suicide battery though, so you might wanna get if from a seller who knows about it and (if possible) has changed it recently. The only thing I don't like about that game is that the puzzle game would play better with a 4-way stick.

It's one of my favourites but I pretty much never play Don't Pull, I'm more into Midnight Wanderers and Chariot.

Hmm, I don't know of anywhere selling it apart from Fujita..
