Over clocking USB devices -> less controller lag

Post by emphatic »

I got a tip about this application from another forum (stgfan):
http://www.download4a.com/Windows/Drive ... dusbf.html

It can over clock the "pooling rate" for USB devices (your pads, i/j-pacs etc).

How to use:

De-select "Mouses only"

Find your plugged in device, change the rate to 1000 then click "install service"

Restart your computer to see if it works, if not, just restore the value for your device. I guess moving a device from one port to another would give you the default setting for that particular device though.

That's neat. Man, I can't wait for USB 3...

Did you leave "test mode" on or did you use the signature override to get rid of that? I'm a bit iffy about messing with the polling rates, and also about the whole signature enforcement override...that said this sounds useful.

FPS players have known about this for quite a while. There was even a time when overclocking PS/2 brought a more substantial result compared to default USB 1.1 polling rate (which was 80 or 120 Hz, don't remember offhand).

Vista, and 7 as well probably, would benefit from having the Driver Signing disabled before doing this. It's an easy fix.
