You might want to lay off the needlessly huge explosions. Most of the time they're fine. Pointless, but fine. When enemies are at the bottom of the screen, however, they're killer.

Retrofit is to Galaga what Decimation X is to Space Invaders. Only in euroshmup form but with leaderboards

It's actually the best euroshmup I've played.

It won't get difficult until wave 50s. But the challenge is a ton of fun when you finally get there.

It's fantastic for a dollar. Very polished. Great for average players, but has a place for me and you. Buy it.

Looks pretty good. Simple. Simple is fun. May pick it up with the spare 140pts I have.

I'm onboard with this. Fun little shooter, well worth the dollar. It's difficult to regain power after dying later in the game, makes it feel like my last life is worthless/must do all scoring w/ 1st.

I'm finding this quite addictive - it's a great little game, and an absolute steal at 80 points. The only conspicuously Euroshmuppy thing about it is the shield, but that's been really nicely implemented, and can't be leaned on too much in a pinch.

I'm glad some of you guys are enjoying the game (I was one of the two who worked on it) :)

We set out to try and produce something that was quick and experimental and would appeal to as many people as possible, not to rake in loads of cash because that just won't happen, but to pay homage to something we love, old school arcades. We wanted to try and get some of the newer gaming generation playing them again. We stayed as close as we could to the originals, but tried to produce something that represents what those games might have been like, if they were made with the same concepts but made today.

It was great fun to make and it seems to have made a few people happy, which was the goal :D

cheers

This is definitely a very solid game. Pretty well thoughtout and reminds me of deluxe galaga a bit.

Good job sir. This is the first indie game that I've ever gotten into.

Really enjoying this, especially when it ramps-up after level 20 or so. Well worth 80 MSP. If the explosions were any smaller, it would make the game too easy I think. They're part of the risk/reward element and should stay as they are IMO. The only thing I'd like to see is an alternate graphics set with some proper pixel art enemies. Oh, and it's a bit crap that you have to have a Gold sub to be able to share hi-scores. Who's insane idea was that?

What do you mean gold sub to share high scores? You don't need gold to play indies anymore?

You've never needed Gold to play Indie Games. But for some reason, this game requires a Gold sub for Global hi-scores to work.

The reason that a Gold account is needed to share scores is because, when using XNA, we don't have access to the standard Live leaderboards. They are reserved for XBLA and retail games, and they don't require gold. Our scoreboards are a workaround basically using a sort of P2P system which automatically sets up multiplayer "Game" sessions between players which simply swaps their scores. The downside is that any multiplayer activity on Live is locked out unless you have gold.

It's a neat trick and a pain at the same time, but it's the only way we could get scoreboards in :)
