Unknown Horror Movie
In the fall of 1988 I saw a on TV a horror movie. I vaguely remember the plot going like this:
It was about this girl who was terrorized by her wicked stepmother and her dad's brother lived in the house they live in now.
But the twist was that he lived in the attic under the floor. You see, one day the guy was playing with this box thing. Its like a rubik cube but like, deadly with spikes and flesh ripping chains coming out of it. The guy activated the box and then these dudes in S/M leather gear showed up and told him he was going to hell or something like that. Well, the stepmother, you see is a real bitch and she wants to fuck the guy under the floor in the attic, but before she can do that she must bring him dead bodies.
In the end, the girl activates the box to help her father who was murdered by the skeevy stepmom and the newly reanimated guy from the attic. The fetish guys show back up with their boss who has these nails or pin things sticking out of his head.
My guess is that it was released before 1989, but I can not remember the name.
If anyone knows the name of the film, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

That sort of sounds like Hellraiser.

Yep, it's Hellraiser alrighty...it debuted on the big screen back in 1987. Hellraiser II: Hellbound continues the story with Ashley and Pinhead (the Cenobite leader with the pins placed all over his head). His fellow Cenobites include Butterball, Chatterer, and others. In the second sequel, you get to see all the other associated Cenobites as they were in human form. They too, had at one point, gained access to the evil looking black and gold colored "Lament Configuration Box" puzzle that opens the doorway to the Cenobites.
It was Clive Barker's short novella titled "The Hellbound Heart" (first published in 1986) that was the basis for the first Hellraiser film.

Are they all crap? I think the only one I've seen is set on a space station or something. That one's been hilariously stupid, definitely.cools wrote:Definitely Hellraiser. Great film, shame about the sequels.
Re: Unknown Horror Movie
The first two are pretty good. The first one was my favorite horror film growing up.

Nah, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth is another self parodizing film that doesn't take it self too seriously. The scene with the space station transforming into a giant Lament Configuration Box was titled Hellraiser 4: Bloodlines. This fourth sequel even shows how the LCB puzzle device was constructed/crafted.

Re: Unknown Horror Movie
i have another unknown horrormovie for ya, ive asked for this before years ago and got an answer but forgot that too.
anyways, its an 80s flick and there are a bunch of teens having a party, they all get killed one by one by this dude in an old deep-sea diving suit, the kicker is that when the heroine is the only one left she runs into a room and there all her friends are shouting "surprise!", she gets pissed and turns into a demon and starts killing them back (im not kidding), i remember i thought it was awesome but hey that was 15years ago atleast...
anyone seen it? anyone know where i could find it?
i also know there is a similiar movie called april fools or something like that and thats not it..

the series started to really go downhill after bloodlines...although bloodlines was pretty weak as well tbhPC Engine Fan X! wrote:Nah, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth is another self parodizing film that doesn't take it self too seriously. the rest of the films were direct to video....
cant believe they are making a remake....im so sick of remakes....leave classic horror films alone...

i really enjoy the first 2 films, and the 3rd is quite good as well....
and the film you are talking about sounds extremely familiar sven....its on the tip of my tongue but i cant quite recall the title....it will come to me im sure....

Re: Unknown Horror Movie
For sven666,
It would have to be the 1986 released April Fool's film...since there is a key scene where everyone does yell out "Surprise" to the final remaining heroine trying to escape from her relentless killer. She knew that she had been taken for a ride. Interesting twist to the horror film genre but the film critics thought that it was just another one of those teen slasher genre flicks that was so prevalent back in the early 1980s.

Parts of sven's description sound a bit like Killer Party, which came out in the same year as April Fool's Day.

Re: Unknown Horror Movie
I go on massive writer binges - Clive Barkers output (novels/films) took up a few months of last year, involved watching all the Hellraiser films in order over the course of a week. The first is great, the second is okay, then they nosedive dramatically and just get worse and worse - with the exception of Inferno (5) which is alright. I seem to remember 1,2,5 have Barker on screenplay duty, which would explain it somewhat.Herr Schatten wrote:Are they all crap? I think the only one I've seen is set on a space station or something. Re: Unknown Horror Movie
There actually was a Hellraiser FPS being developed.
Yes, back in the day; it would have required custom chips and run on the NES.
Seriously.
Also seriously: I haven't seen this film but even I know instantly who you're talking about when you mention Pinhead. So maybe I ought to see this.
Speaking of Clive Barker, Undying is a must-play title, more or less.

I actually liked Bloodlines
and the demon the evil doctor turns into at the end of Hellraiser II is among one of the coolest (design wise) monsters in the series imo. Hellraiser III was pretty painful though.
On a semi-related note I just started reading Barkers' Weaveworld this weekend on a recommendation from the girlfriend. I have only read his Books of Blood series in the past and I am digging the fantasy vibe as opposed to the usual horror.

Re: Unknown Horror Movie
One and two are quite good I think, although being total opposite in style. The first has more splatter content and more real life scenery while a lot of the second movie plays in some kind of parallel dimension that looks really grotesque and bizarre. Almost like a painting from Dalì, but apparently lacking the brilliancy.Herr Schatten wrote:Are they all crap? I think the only one I've seen is set on a space station or something. The third movie, however, is utter shite in my opinion. The whole looks is so lame and washed out, uargh, like some random unoriginal B-horrorflick from the early 90's. Plus there's almost no gore in it, pure 90 minutes of boredom. And that was also the last Hellraiser I've watched, it probably won't get any better

You should check out Clive Barker's Imajica novel after you get done reading Weaveworld. It, too, is another fanasty filled novel that only Barker could dream up/write.

i also know there is a similiar movie called april fools or something like that and thats not it... Im a sucker for these kinds of horror b-flicks. Me and some mates get together 5-6 times a year and marathon 7-8 movies in one sitting. good times.
cool, hey if you find it anywhere would you let me know, please ?

sorry if i spoilt the ending for you there tho, i remember it came as a total shock as the movie isnt going in that direction/pace at all up till that point.
keep in mind its a good 15years since i saw it but i remember the mood of the film was kinda suspenseful and half funny like alot of those movies are, y'know a little titties, a little "no dont go in there" and a little jumping when shit flashes out of nowhere.. then came the ending and the whole film just went nasty, all the funny is gone and the mood just turns desparate as the former heroine turns into a RE2 licker and just kills the shit out of all the panicking teenagers.

Re: Unknown Horror Movie
There was also a horror movie I once saw in 1993 or so; I don't remember the details but there was a girl that got trapped/lost in some sort of creepy alternate reality that looked, if I remember right, as some sort of eerie-lightened basement. I think she also had a friend or something, who either got trapped there as well and/or tried to rescue her. And there were some demonic dudes that picked on her. One of them was fat and he ate spaghetti (with blood sauce or something) in one of the scenes. Not sure how it ended.
Sorry if this sounded confusing but I didn't watch it from the beginning, and I only was seven back then. :)
And another one. I believe it's Italian, definitely not very old (between 1980 and 1995 I believe). Spoilers ahead, select text to read!
It's about a family with a small boy. They move to a suburban house and find a grave in its basement. It turns out there is a huge undead guy in that grave who eventually kills most of them save the boy. Near the end there is an excellent scene where the family members try to escape the basement while fighting off the guy, and the father stabs him with a knife. Then the camera shows the wound with a knife still in it, and heaps of maggots fall out of it on the floor. I think they don't even manage to kill him at the end, the boy escapes with his grandmother or something.
