Iron Man 2 removed scenes **Warning Spoilers!**

Post by ST Dragon »

**Warning Spoilers Alert!**

I just watched Iron Man 2 at the Cinema and it was a great film, as good as the 1st and enjoyed it slightly more.
I loved the black humor, the jeer and mockery in the dialogue of the main characters through the film and the action scenes were awesome.
Mickey Rourke played whip-lash very well and personally I can’t think of a more suitable actor than Robert Downey Jr. for the role of Tony Stark. He basically plays him self, as in real life he’s not exactly one the “best” boys around ;)

Anyway I noticed a scene form the official trailer where Scarlett Johansson fires the Iron Man gauntlet that was removed from the final film which I saw at the cinema. Anybody knows why?

And at the end of the film when the Thor’s hammer is spotted next to the crater at the desert, is that an inclination that Thor will appear in Iron Man 3, or just a preview of the up coming separate Thor film?

Came back from seeing it along with Greg.

There is also a scene in the trailer where Pepper is kissing the mask/helmet instead of Tony. There's a reason why they put it like that. Just wait till you see it.

The hammer appearance is to "pass the torch" temporarily to the next movie, and tie it into the continuity. Don't think that Thor will appear in any subsequent Iron Man movie.

Wait, I watched the film, wasn't the part of her kissing the helmet just before jumping from the plane also in the cinema version?

And what's the reason anyway? They also do kiss at the end on top of that building.

In the actual movie, Iron Man is on the plane by himself. I think they removed the kissing the helmet scene because it would conflict with the story. Remember that Pepper dislikes the idea of the Stark Expo and says something along the lines of the expo being the manifestation of Tony's ego.

The Iron Man suits supposedly have protection mechanisms so that no one but Tony can use them. He couldn't have just taken the glove and allowed anyone else to use it unless he disabled the protection beforehand, which he did to give Rhoadey the MKII suit. Let's be honest tho, didn't you like Tony dancing in the suit like an idiot and peeing himself? Which party would you rather have tits or the one in the movie?

My favorite part is where he dons the briefcase suit. Soo cool. They should have made the fight longer, and showcase some of its unique capabilities (besides the whole portable thing) compared to the normal suit.

Really good film, but I prefer the original.

ST Dragon, they put the helmet kiss in the trailer to build up the romantic tension without having to hint at what actually happens. The moment when they do kiss for real at the end of the movie wouldn't have had the same impact if we had seen them doing it in the trailers.

(PC Engine Fan X moment) They are probably borrowing from what Pixar does in their trailers or teasers: Put the characters in a scene that gives an idea of what the movie is about, without actually giving the plot away. But that scene is not in the movie at all.

No actually I thought that part was a bit silly. I would have preferred if Scarlett Johansson had fired the gauntlet instead. It looked funnier and cooler.
Maybe we'll see it in the Director's cut / extended edition in a few months when the Blue-ray is released.

Yeah I wished that fight scene would have been a bit longer too. Also the final battle against whip-lash felt a bit underwhelming. It too should have been a lot longer.

But I really liked the part when he unleashes the round-house red laser, Repulsor blaster to take out all the drones at once. That looked as if it came straight out of Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes Beat Up Game:

You mean Iron Man (2008)?

I also liked the part where Stark sees his father on the video and reveals to him for the 1st time that he had always loved him and he was in fact the best of his father’s creations. And he later, saves his son’s life with his plans on the new element.

Yeah, the original film. I thought characters were better developed in it, especially the main villain. He does a bunch of bastardly things like killing his Ten Rings partner and ripping the arc reactor out of Tony's chest and leaving him to die. Whiplash isn't nearly as ruthless a villain and he is almost endearing when he goes on about his bird. His 30 second fight scenes didn't help either. When the final fight was over, I thought to myself, "is that it? the guy didn't do anything!" Even the unmanned drones did more damage.

some website wrote:Iron Man 3 in 3D, Villain Revealed

Jon Favreau is talking about Iron Man 3 and its good timing considering Iron Man 2 is currently in theaters ripping up the box office. What better way to get Iron Man 3 off the ground when Iron Man 2 is busy making Marvel a boat load of money. As no surprise they had looked at releasing Iron Man 2 in 3D by doing the post-production conversion but decided against it... thank goodness I might add. But that does lead to the 3rd Iron Man movie almost definitely being released in 3D.

As far as the villain goes he has revealed that he would like the Mandarin. It was rumored the Mandarin would appear in Iron Man 2 but that never happened. The 10 Rings were referenced in the first film and the 2nd film ( the goon who gives the ticket to Whiplash is credited as a 10 Rings Thug ). The Mandarin is VERY tricky to tie into the films because you need to make him a serious opponent but the Iron Man movies have so far had a very strong realist element which makes introducing a character who uses 'magic' a bit tricky. Either way Iron Man 3 will have to wait until Captain America and The Avengers is complete which means their is plenty of time to polish the idea.
I would now say its revelaed! Nor would i say that were going to have to wait until after thor, Capt America and the avengers. Intresting that he wants to get mandarin in on this.

It's interesting that the Mandarin would be getting in this late into the series. Anyway, I liked this sequel a little more. More characters, more action.

I was surprised Bill O'Reilly willingly portrayed himself as the complete jerk many already make him out to be. And I thought it was interesting how they really made Howard Stark out to be like Walt Disney in the movie; that city of the future spiel was a rip of Disney's recorded proposal for EPCOT, the supposed city of the future.

Hint: It was a great fit and recent news of promiscuity has only made it more appropriate.
