Hey, not too shabby.
Re: Every G.G DSi games on a DS cart (including shmups)
30 bad games don't make 1 good compilation.
Re: Every G.G DSi games on a DS cart (including shmups)
So these were Japanese DSiware games? Anyone who has played them?
Re: Every G.G DSi games on a DS cart (including shmups)
I've played every single G.G shmup from that collection, and out of all of them, two are good, and those two good games are OK at best (Wonder Land and Dark Spirits).

so basically, this compilation is not worth our time?SFKhoa wrote:I've played every single G.G shmup from that collection, and out of all of them, two are good, and those two good games are OK at best (Wonder Land and Dark Spirits).

For 5040yen, I'd hold back on it. I wonder if the unlocked games are much better though.

care to elaborate, or will we have to make due with "two are good, and those two are okay"?

There's a list of the games on this blog and some videos.
more on youtube :
Dark Spirit
D-Tank
Drilling Attack
It looks like a doujin soft compilation. Nothing outstanding but maybe some enjoyable games (shmup or not).

You guys will probably like the games (I sure did) on first glance, but as you progress through each game, they don't really add anything new aside from progressive difficulties. (Imagine facing the same goddamn bosses every 3-4 stages under a higher difficulty each time.) Also, Wonder Land is the closest thing to Touhou on the DS you're ever going to get (aside from that homebrew one).Mad Mage wrote:care to elaborate, or will we have to make due with "two are good, and those two are okay"?

Well, I decided to buy this.
The games are pretty simplistic, the sort of gameplay you'd seen on an NES back in the day. Some games are better than others, but so far I haven't played any really terrible ones. Not much depth to the games, you're really only playing for score and to see how long you can go, I guess.
The majority of the games are locked at first but it doesn't seem too difficult to buy new games. Each game also has achievements that give you a lot of money if you accomplish them, so I guess there's also that to shoot for while you're playing, some of the games seem to have some pretty difficult achievements.
There seems to be 7 shooting games. I don't have them all yet and I don't have a Japanese DSi so I don't know which games are new for the cart version. None of the games I've played are fantastic, although I guess they're functionally solid and do their job as simple games. Nothing that'll be really challenging if you're good at the genre (although maybe it gets harder later on, I dunno, I haven't really spent that much time on a single game). The Ikari-warriors style game is the only one that gave me a good challenge from the beginning, need to get used to the cover system it has.
I guess it's not a bad game to buy if you want a bunch of simple games to kill time and play for score, although I wouldn't get it just for the shooters unless you really like NES-era simple games.
