Full extent of the (traffic) jam: Blur vs Split/Second
Full extent of the (traffic) jam: Blur vs Split/Second
The demos for both these games are up now, so what are people's opinions? Early impressions seemed to indicate that these would be similar arcade racers, but having played both demos I'm pleasantly surprised at how different they are. Blur is clearly a Wipeout clone with wheels, while Split/Second is a reverse Burnout where the objective is to make the track crash into your opponents rather than making your opponents crash into the track. Both seem polished, based on the demos, though they wear their influences on their sleeves. I've been waiting for a new arcade racer since being disappointed by Burnout's moved to an open world setting.

Re: Full extent of the (traffic) jam: Blur vs Split/Second
I haven't tried the Split Second demo yet, but when I played it at PAX last year it definitely looked like it had potential, as long as you don't expect anything besides a throwaway arcade racer.
Blur, on the other hand, I'm staying far away from, mostly due to the Activision label. That, and the fact that if I really wanted to play a racing game on drugs, I'd rather that there be actual drugs involved.

Blur is Rulb, backwards. Coincidence, or TRUTHS?
