Raiden 4 is an OK game. RFA is one of the finest collection of shmups ever.

edit: i see by your other post that you've become MAME happy recently. congrats, but thats no reason not to buy a dirt cheap copy of one of the best comps ever.

RFA was put together with much love.

one AAA grade shmup priced at £17 is good value for money let alone 3 so yes RFA is a damn good package, Still watching vids of R4 really makes me want to play it over the other RFA. Thats just me, a noob with wierd tastes whose in this case wowed by r4s eye candy. Although with the amount of ppl who prefer RFA over R4 ill prolly agree with em once ive actually played em.

Anyway i should have a 360 by then (providing nothing unexpected pops up, which it allways seems to do) so ild be very happy to buy eather pack or both

Raiden 4 is definitely the prettier of the two, but I don't like the game nearly as much. It's just not as fun to score in.

Both Raiden IV and the Raiden Fighters series are great games that I think everyone should play. You can give the Raiden Fighters series a go in mame if you want to check them out. Beware of first stage stupidity though.

I get to play all raiden fighters in mame for free which parts the shame? They have been available in mame for ages yet it doesnt appear to have hindered the popularity of RFA .

RFJ will inspire Stage 1 restartitis. One fuck up there will destroy your run.

Agreed. I just happen to think RFJ has the most complicated scoring out of the whole series...and not nailing the Miclus next to the Stage 1 boss drastically reduces the scoring potential of your run. Fuel for rage quitting.

Meh, it doesnt take much time to memorize the first stage so that you get the special medals like 98% of the time. I found the swinging medals around thing to be pretty fun actually, wonder what RFJ would be like without the special medal mode.

We had a pretty good run for the PS2, almost every shmup except the CAVE ones got released over here. But for some reason 505 games haven't shown any intrest in 360 shmups
