Best Wii joystick?
Best Wii joystick?
I noticed that there are two sticks available for Wii.. one is the Hori stick, which is plain white. The other is the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom stick, which is roughly twice the price. Does anyone here know which is better? Is the Tatsunoko vs .Capcom stick any better, or am I just paying for a huge ugly picture on the front of the thing?

They're both far from ideal. Get a GCN-to-PS2 converter from Play-Asia and hopefully, you already have a PS2 HRAP SA/modded.

The Hori produced Wii Fighting Stick plugs directly into the Wii Remote and you let it lay flat while you use the joystick portion. It is generally recommended to use a fresh set of alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries so that you have a strong signal during those crucial moments of serious gaming sessions. Of course, being endowed with all Hori stock arcade parts from the get-go, it's possible to upgrade to either Sanwa or Seimitsu parts.

Personally, I'd recommend the TvC stick, because, while the Hori is moddable, the TvC stick is even more so, since you don't have to do any soldering or dremeling to get Sanwa or Seimitsu parts to fit, it's all drop in.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:The Hori produced Wii Fighting Stick plugs directly into the Wii Remote and you let it lay flat while you use the joystick portion. Hmm which is the better stick if I'm not going to mod it? Are they both bad enough that I'd be better off just sticking with pads? How are they in terms of sturdiness?

The TvC stick's stock parts are much better as they use the same microswitches as Sanwa.

Re: Best Wii joystick?
I have a stock Hori stick and find it to be damn near unplayable in certain games. The buttons aren't bad, but the accuracy of the stock Joystick is subpar at best.

Yo Louis, I gotta go with ganelon on this one. I've never noticed any lag from the PS2 converters. Not only is it a lot cheaper than buying wii sticks, but there are PS2 sticks available that are much higher quality. I use it with my HRAP1.
In the past I've had the Hori Wii Fighting Stick, the Hori GC Fighting Stick, and an Xbox 360 Madcatz SE which is similar to the Wii version. They all suck. The SE is easily moddable, but the curved control panel makes it feel wrong no matter what hardware.
Here's where I picked mine up, right off of amazon.

$8.50 before shipping, I paid a bit more a few months back because of TVC hype. Can't go wrong!
