Thanks Dave, awesome meet. Next time I'll be sure to bring the MSX and a lot more games for the X68000 as well. Unfortunately, I don't have JAMMA converters for anything--kinda sucks having to play on the tiny combo monitor.

Dave, thanks for the great meet! Mdl, good to finally meet you. More Japanese computers is always a good thing :) I can bring an extra monitor next time (I have one spare 17" VGA and two spare 14" composite/chroma-luma). I'd also be happy to pack an Amiga 500, though I don't have any shmuppy games for it..

Another awesome meetup! Nina's eggs were delish, I should have grabbed the platter at the end :)

Thanks for hosting as usual and to everyone who showed up. We couldn't quite muster up the same kind of Spy Hunter competition, but Louis posted up a nice score before he left. Ketsui side by side was very impressive. GP graced us from the Land of the Rising Sun and promptly proceeded to whip out some nice runs despite being rusty. I had a blast and only wish I could have gotten around the traffic and over earlier. Ish and Kit pass their thanks along as well!

Cheers, Dave. Thanks to your better half as well. I was expecting her to hide upstairs but she kind of embraced the situation. It was definitely a barrel of monkies!

Also thanks to antron & Kiselgof for the rides. Was a little rough waking up this morning and United jammed it in my ass w/ the weight restrictions, but it all worked out. I got Economy Plus for the usual $65 and got seated next to a tranny at no extra charge, so that was awesome. I replayed the entire "Manhands" Seinfeld episode. And as irony would have it, they aired an episode of Arrested Development in flight. Tobias, of course, did not disappoint.

Thanks Dave for the great meet and thanks for your dedication! I didn't see you play, only switching pcbs and stuff. I wish I could help you out, but I don't want to mess up stuff haah

Who was GaijinPunch? Hahah, I never figured who he was!

Nice meeting everyone! Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks everyone for coming! Great to meet GP in person, as well as welcome a bunch of new locals. Thanks to mdl for brining his X86000!

I'd say the night time made it a little more difficult all around for people because of traffic, but it was nice to be able to cool down the garage quickly by cracking open the door than having it turn into a giant metal heater due to the sun.

Thats ok, as host I don't typically get to play a lot anyway, but happy to put in whatever people have been waiting to play for awhile. This shmupmeet had more technical problems than before, from one side of Planet Harriers going red, to Spy Hunter locking up and blinking the wrong weapons. I've got some new projects to look into now. ;)

I'll post a review of my Ketsui side-by-side comparison later, but seems like most people were pretty pleased with the port.

As usual, a few select pics.

Almost forgot, kitkit put in a good effort on SpyHunter, but louisg's score just barley maintained the top spot for the night! Again Spy Hunter seems to have been the most played game of the meet. :D Jamma-Genny didn't get much loving at all for some reason.

If I had to guess, I'd say that sweet V-V arcade board might have something to do with it. Wish I could have made it out but I've been swamped with school and having vehicle difficulties.

I've begun my venture into arcade-console gaming myself. Here's what I pieced together yesterday:

So beautiful to finally see this Technosoft classic in an arcade machine.

Nice! I've never owned a Saturn so never played Blast Wind. I don't know when the next meet will be, but I hope you bring that!

Ok, I will. Saturn is one of my favorite consoles. An import was the first thing I ever bought online back in 2001 or so. It came with about 20 random games, mostly junky dollar titles, but one of those games I'd never heard of turned out to be DonPachi. Too good of a surprise!

Blast Wind is cool. Its a bit on the easy side, but I think I can 1cc it today. Killer graphics and bosses. I've got this all set up plug n' play!

Wha? That's just crazy. I can bring one next time if you want. They're cheap as shit here. It's the shipping that makes them pricey. Plenty of arcadish console only games as well.
