If Death Smiles sees any moderate success, it will be attributed to the limited edition packaging and/or Touhou fanbase drawn into it's loli theme…

It seems doubtful we'd see a localization of Ketsui or Dai-ou-jou considering their age as well as general lack of the loli theme - sure there are the dolls in DOJ, but the game play theme is still industrial and you still pilot a plane.. just sayin.

Will Cave actually be able to shop Ketsui or Daioujou out to US publishers? Cuz they didn't develop the ports, so maybe that complicates things? I dunno. I'm just gonna get an import system.

Maybe it does. But I happen to think Ketsui will make it here. I dunno. I could be wrong. But I'm not going to import the game just yet, at least not until I get a 360 J-tagged.

I don't know if this video has been available for long, but many slag off the X Mode for DOJ-BLEX before even trying it.

Totally worth your time to unlock if you have the game and for some stupid reason think that the port is bad. It's only the loading times and the replay playback that bothers me...

First time I have seen the X mode. All of the youtube videos got pulled for some reason.

So the normal shot is a hyper and the hyper shot is green and cancels bullets?

It depends - Piper (the added 4th character for X mode) plays as described - she is in normal hyper mode full-time and her shot and laser become bullet cancelling when a hyper is activated, but she has no bombs whatsoever. The main three character's non-hyper shots are pretty much as they were in the arcade version, but they have slightly different properties otherwise - Shotia will autobomb for as long as she still has bombs, and her hyper's shot (but not laser) bullet cancels; Leinyan will autobomb once per life and her hyper's laser (not shot) bullet cancels; I'm honestly not sure if Exy changed at all.

Exy can activate a normal hyper with 1 hyper item and the bullet cancel hyper with both shot types with 2+ hyper items in stock.

Also, Piper's (Type-H) hyper only lasts half as long as the other characters.

Just keep playing and wait a bit.

I pulled mine out of the shrinkwrap at a convention, tossed it in, and let people play it all weekend. Everything was unlocked when I brought it home. Based on the high-score list, nobody ever got past stage 2 on one credit so it's definitely not something unlocked by skillful play.

If I recall correctly, you have to either have 4 hours of gameplay time on the clock, or a certain number of achievements unlocked.

Once you unlock the No Bullet EX option, it gets pretty easy to rack up gameplay time since you can just sit at all the various bosses waiting for them to time out.

I also tried running DOJBLEX at a convention... every time I looked away, someone went back into my dashboard and launched Ikaruga instead. --;;

Is there any way to know if it's actually logging my playtime?

because it resets my high scores and possibly my settings every time.

I have auto save on but I dunno.

It keeps track of overall playtime, number of plays, and various other stats in the achievement tracker IIRC.

X-Mode is supposed to unlock after 6 hours of total playtime.

It does forget your settings sometimes. That's one of the bugs. Not seen it reset scores yet though.

Are you on dialup or something?

Otherwise you can go online and get patches and use leaderboards and DLC and all that stuff. Generally you only have to pay to play online.

EDIT: But to answer your question, if you are physically unable to access the internet then yes, you are out of luck on patches.

Yeah, internet access is going to be required to download patches - you have to be signed in to Xbox Live (any region should be fine, and it doesn't matter whether it be silver or gold).

That is, if the patch ever even comes out.

Connect the 360 hdd to your pc , transfer the patch to the right partition , done. (patches are unsigned content as opposed to dlc afaik).
Haven't done this myself , you'll have to look up the specifics.

Precisely like that, to the point that for a while patch packs were released - utterly stupid if you ask me, why ruin a perfectly good console just to play on the cheap? Just don't buy it first place.

Random- but damn do I wish there were a way to save patches for games. I think it's stupid I do not have that option : /

You can download all the game patches to your PC.
Isn't is possible to simply copy those from a USB stick to the Cache folder on your 360 ?

EDIT: works, on the PC you have to use a small app called XTAF to move the files to the USB Stick.
