I got both of the 1ups on one occasion. But don't remember at all how I got them. ;-)

There's pretty detailed instructions on how to get both 1-UPs over in Strategy.

The original BGM is available.

I used a fan made remix I found here:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 56&start=0

The remixer didn't credit the original composer though.

The original composer is Manabu Namiki for the record.

Cheers.

yeah I was , but japjacs annoyed because someone pulled him up about using my track on his video without credit, or permission, and won't do so unless he's provided with proof that
i've acknowledged the track was written by namiki..

Did you get permission to remix Manabu Namiki's work?

Wow, had one of my best runs thus far....got the first extend and the 1up from the battleship.......then I lost ALL my lives between there and the end of the third boss :( Still got a pretty decent score out of it though.

Is the option to practice bosses timed locked? I can only practice stages at the moment. :(

region locking makes threads way more quiet....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yup. It's only been out for a few days.

I, for one, can't wait. It's been a dream of mine for many years to have a home version of this game (never did feel like saving up THAT much for the PCB), so it's damn near exhilarating to think that my first go at Ketsui is only a few days away

I'm not complaining..... it's just the futari thread was a cluster fuck of posts before and after the game was out.

me no understand....

Side note I feel guilty in admitting that I have been enjoying the X mode more than the regular game this weekend.

Futari got so many posts because it was the first region-free Cave port.

Also because it's like the best game ever.

I REALLY hope Ketsui lives up to the hype. If it's as good as you guys say then I'll actually have a reason to keep my Jap 360 hooked up. Deathsmiles and BLEX just don't do it for me anymore.

You'll find out you're wrong about that once your Ketsui shows up.

5pb really did a job, given how the Ketsui story all started it's great they hit it out the park.

I'll clarify. The people who already have the game are probably too busy enjoying it to be running back here, and the rest are probably still waiting for their copy to arrive. The people who don't fall under either of category are the ones constructing posts over how region locking sucks.

But region locking does suck!

Either way, I'm probably going to order the game along with a Japanese 360 in the next day or so. I'm excited.

You have no idea how earthshatteringly amazing it would be for me if this were true.

I like Futari so much my friends have taken to joking "It's good but it's no Futari" about everything else under the sun.

I'm hopeful for Ketsui though; I'm pretty certain it'll at least be better than BLEX and Deathsmiles.

Also I fucking love bullet cancelling so X mode seems right up my alley.

Anyone else noticing any weirdness on some of the dense bullet patterns? Its almost like it is dropping frames or something. I've noticed it a few times, specifically on the final spew of the stage 3 midboss.

I am running via VGA to CRT at 640x480, so I doubt it is my setup.

Yes, it does drop frames on certain patterns. This is a hold-over from the original PCB.

I can't comment on the BLEX port as I haven't played it, but DDP DOJ is a better game than Futari. That said, it's better than nearly everything. I'd agree with the Futari > Deathsmiles rating tho.
The only thing with Ketsui is it's difficulty. It lulls you into a false sense of security for the first couple of stages, but cranks up the difficulty quickly. It's a beautiful game, totally in your face and utterly relentless.
