I don't think any Cave completionist is insane enough to pay that much for the original DOJ. It's not even Black Label.

No, you can see in the original email the pic of the PGM cart is a closeup of Shotia against the DOJ ship. And I'm assuming thegreathopper emailed them back asking how much.

Perhaps this is to satisfy operators who's original DOJ boards are breaking due to the battery leaking. Only thing is that price is way too much considering you can get a used BL for much less than that.

According to the flyer, the title is: Dodonpachi Daioujou Tamashi

So does an extra kanji constitute a gameplay/scoring revision?

no, but in true CAVE fashion that added kanji will cost you an extra $700

Damn, I'm a sucker for cartridges, but I already have DOJ/ESPG/Ketsui on PCB.
But it would be awesome if they put out, DOJ: BL, ESPG Arrange and Ketsui X on PGM2...I would hit that.

according to ECL:

"It almost the same only a bit different for the before Cave DDP DOJ, some parts graphic and pellet more power"

soooo, $900 for something that is still in the market for $300? Makes sense to me!

I'm curious to hear exactly what on this one is different. I don't have much experience with the other black labels- but in the case of Ibara it is night and day between black and vanilla.

Well, specifically DOJ BL had very minor changes, yet the board costs a fortune, like over twice as much (3x?) as a regular DOJ board.

I know that was just a jab at IGS, but seriously, its not bootleg. They legally licensed DDP from Cave to create their own version, and fanboys get all upset because of the 2 in the title, and that it looks like the original, but doesn't play like it. No shit sherlock, its an arranged version.

So it looks to me like IGS is doing the same thing here with DOJ, they obviously licensed it, their IGS logo is in the upper left of the flyer, and no mention of Cave. I for one welcome any arranged versions, wether or not it confirms to IKD's anal chaining mechanics.

DDP2 is one of my favorite 'pachi's just from the few times I got to sit down with it at the MD shmupmeets :D I'm actually really interested to see what IGS can do with the assets from DOJ.

I think calling DDP2 an "arranged version" is a bit weird. It was an original game, different levels (stage backgrounds were similar but the enemy layouts are completely different), scoring, shot types, bullet patterns, etc, the only thing in common were the enemy sprites and name... This DOJ seems like it's going to be an arranged version though.

I talked with Fannie on IM a bit.

This price includes the PGM2 board and the cart. (uhh sorry just saw that in the OP)

I asked if it plays the same as the original DOJ and I got this: "almost the same only some picture and the more power".

One way to interpret this would be that this revision has better graphics. Some picture sounds like graphics to me. More power, I think would refer to the PGM2 hardware.

Someone should buy this.

Sounds like more shot power, which would not be entirely unexpected of an arranged version.
