Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
jump = broke
Not really but if the directions of jumping are limited, it might not be so different/easy. Takes a bit away from what is and has been Bionic Commando for so many years. I only recently got BCR1 and I've been putting off completing the GB version, so I've got work to do before I have much concern for BCR2. Looks alright otherwise, more in-line with the original arcade game (jungle).

I'm interested in seeing who is actually doing this one, as GRIN closed up shop.

Fatshark = ex Grin team.
Great news though, I love Rearmed.

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
They already made Hitler's head blow up, what are you supposed to do for an encore?
Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
Great news as the first one was one of the best XBLA games imo. And the fact that the original team is behind this should make it as good as the first game.
Only downside this will be released Q1 2011. It's a bit early for the announcement and trailer now, isn't it?

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
Hopefully they don't bloom the fuck out of it and make it unplayable like the first one. Also, make the physics more like the NES game.

Hopefully they'll make another 3D BC as well. I might be in the minority, but I really enjoyed that one as well.

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
I'm definitely interested, but I always had the feeling the reason BCR was good, was because it was so similar to the original. I don't know if these guys can come up with all the cool stage design and gameplay elements the first on had, on their own. The jumping is...well, it could work...whatever. We'll see.

Especially in Mega Turrican.
Jumping should allow some new types of platforming, especially if you can jump while swinging (which you could kinda do in the NES game by pressing down.)

The jump somewhat reminds me of Prince of Persia. This could work.

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
The jump could work. I'm sure they'll develop the levels around jumping, make for some "perfect" jump and claw combinations. Could be fun. It does make sense that he should be able to jump. I hardly doubt you'll be able to jump over enemies and if you can only tiny ones.
Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
I'm happy to see this team not quietly fade away into the night. Rearmed was awesome, so whether they add in a jump or not really doesn't matter much to me. I'll buy this game unless the press for it is totally awful (and maybe even then).

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
I think they added the jump to attract more casual gamers to the game and thus increase sales. But I'm confident that they will put out a decent game given the high quality of the first one.

Re: Bionic Commando Rearmed 2
I'd heard good things about Re-armed before I'd bought my 360 so when I got it as a deal of the week (I actually missed it in the XBLA section as it was listed under BC: Rearmed, I looked for it as Bionic Commando Rearmed) I was well impressed. Looked good, sounded good and played great. Way better than the arcade game. I'd never played the NES game and had only heard about it online (I dunno if it came out in the UK?)
It wasn't until I got to the final stage that I found my 1st Yashichi. I then went all the way back to the 1st stage and played through the whole game again finding all of the Yashicis and weapons upgrades I'd missed. Talk about tight design. I'm a pretty competent player and to let me through to the end of the game whilst simultaeously allowing me to miss out half of the game due to a lack of exploration on my part was great.
The 1st playthrough was like basic training on the swing mechanics / bosses etc. The 2nd playthrough was like a revelation. So many things I'd missed because I'd not been paying attention / not realised what moves I was fully capable of.
An amazing game and if the sequel is anywhere near as good then it'll be a day one buy for me.

That's pretty much my opinion, but I wouldn't hate to be surprised.evil_ash_xero wrote:I'm definitely interested, but I always had the feeling the reason BCR was good, was because it was so similar to the original.
