Need electronic music for your shmup?

Post by fredrikpj »

I browsed around a few of my tracks and selected 9 of them that might fit a shmup game.
These are unreleased tracks or prototypes, so no record companies involved that might object to me sharing them here.

No strings attached, if you like them and want to use them feel free to, better than having them just waste space on my harddrive :)

Heh, I was just about to ask if someone here wants to make soundtrack for Laseroid2, preferably trance, and this post appears. These are absolutely perfect! Can I use them?

Of course!
Also, if you want to chop them up and use parts of them thats ok too as some tracks have huge breaks that might break the flow.

Laseroid 2 looks cool btw, will look forward checking it out :)

These are great! Shame they don't quite fit what I'm working on; but still quite nice. :)

I like them, but generally too much thump-thump action going on. If I was going to use these, I'd definitely re-encode them with less bass thumping! Hurts my poor ears :(

These are some pretty sweet tracks.
Bass is delicious.

What software do you use?
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Cubase 5, here's more info about exactly what I'm using (it's a bit outdated though): http://www.emortal.se/studio.htm

It's trance, it's supposed to thump! :D
http://www.di.fm - check trance channel for comparison :)

Maybe you have eq turned on too much in your player?

Here's a sample of what I normally do for those interested: http://www.emortal.se/music/emortal-ben ... sample.mp3
Still trance but a lot softer than the tracks I posted above :)
Singer is Tiff Lacey.

No, I don't have any EQ turned on. I also have plenty of good trance music that doesn't go overboard on the bass thumping.

Don't like di.fm much. They tend to play pretty generic stuff.

I'm impossibly jealous.
[nothing but Renoise 2 here]

To be honest, I find less and less use for my synths, so you can go a very long way with Renoise 2 and some good VSTi's.
I really recommend Omnisphere for some sweet synth sounds: http://www.spectrasonics.net/instrument ... videos.php

What means strings attached?
This is pretty high quality trance music. Could fit 1-2 levels but using only trance in the games is not good.
If I use it in some other than SHMUP game is it OK? If it is a flash games with ads are you OK with your music used?
How to give a credit if your music used?

It means you can use it without worrying about using it.
It's ok if you use it in games other than SHMUP games. If it's a flash game with ads or a commercial game that you sell doesn't matter, you're free to use it how you see fit. I suppose the only reason I'd say no is if it puts me in a bad way (like a game about horrible music or such haha). :D

I'd appreciate crediting "Fredrik Johansson" if you use it. :)
If you want to put a link, you can link to www.emortal.se, but I rarely update that page..

I noticed your link to gamebalance.com. Just out of curiousity, since I'll be dabbling within the flash field myself, hows the money in the flash game business? I've heard a lot of different figures. http://www.rocksolidarcade.com claims they're making around 20.000 dollars per game while I've heard less than 500 dollars from others..

Rocksolid arcade probably has good marketing. I think I do around 1000$+ from game. However yes I have one game bring us over 10k$ which we split 50/50 between me and programmer but this money is a period of 2 years.

I love the five track, good music. :o
If you need tracks of D&B, Breakcore, Hardcore, etc... for a shmup talk with me. I have a lot of tracks.

Cheers.

Here's a track called "Birth of a Phase" that I made a few years back, I'm pretty proud of it since I managed to create a lot of variation in 7 minutes of music. Of course, this track would never work commercially for that reason, but I had tons of fun making it :)

Here's the link: http://www.emortal.se/music/emortal-bir ... _phase.mp3

Can't let you use this though since I'm making a vocal version of it with Tiff: http://www.emortal.se/music/emortal_ft_ ... sample.mp3
