Had this recommended to me recently. Kept me up till 3 am
A few people have mentioned it in this thread, but I was curious what you puzzle fans thought? On-line vs. is pretty fun. I played more of the regular game than vs. but I'm looking forward to more of getting my butt handed to me on-line
For those who haven't played, it's a Money Idol Exchanger style game using creatures rather than coins. The artwork is rich w/ attention to small details and is quite cute. Gameplay actually goes beyond Money Idol Exchanger in the way of usable items and occasional barfing point bonuses.

Considering that Critter Crunch! was developed by a Canadian team, it definitely shows with loving attention to the smallest details with the cool anime-like overall presentation.
Yeah, it has a playable tutorial type mode and I think you can play like 3 online vs. battles for free
I'm not sure how the ranking system works, but when I first played online vs. I did pretty well. The next opponent they put me up against (after playing the normal game for a while) really seemed to know the game and I got owned.

I love this game, and I think it´s one of the best puzzle games.Highly recommended!
Spend a lot of time to play this gem.
If you like puzzle games you should download it!
Played against a number 10 ranked player by the name of milkshakemaker who has won a whopping 2292 seperate games of Critter Crunch! He or she handed my ass quite quickly. Makes me wonder how this "milkshakemaker" would fare off in a heated battle of the classic arcade puzzler of Klax PCB, Blockout PCB or even the SP1 Battle Balls/Senkyu cart? Of course, practice makes perfect with them arcade puzzlers.
I played the demo of this a little while back, and it was fun, but for some reason it just didn't grab me like Exchanger did...maybe I need more time with it. Then again, I also wasn't quite as impressed with Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes as I might have been (though I certainly wanted to be).

That's exactly how I felt when I tried the demo. It's just MIE with more simplistic core gameplay and some gimmicks thrown in. It's not bad, but I don't see much of a point in playing it when I can just play MIE.
Really liked this. It starts off simple, but it keeps introducing new elements as you progress to keep things interesting. The story mode gets pretty challenging towards the end, or at least it used to - apparently they patched it as people complained about how hard it was. I managed to get through it before the patch though.
