Avatar - Blu ray (official thread)

I have not seen the blu ray yet, but reports from people that have seen it say its absolutely fantastic on every level. Reference quality on PQ and sound.

Both American and UK discs are region A/B meaning it doesn't matter which version you get its going to work unless you are in region C (China, Russia).

I am opting for the Avatar/T-shirt/Special promo card set steelbook from play.com

Cameron stated no special editions for Canada and the USA, but Europe was exempt from the ruling. I have no doubt James Cameron will not doubt a special edition in November to coincide with his 3D version on blu ray. The edition released in 4 days is only in 2D.

The steelbook is available at www.amazon.com and www.hmv.co.uk if your not local to the UK (play.com do not ship to the USA).

www.dvdworldusa.com are already shipping, some people have already gotten their copy. Although I would count on delays due to the Icelandic volcano still erupting.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

20 Century Fox has said that they will not include any extras whatsoever on the North American 1st print edition release of the Blu-Ray variant of Avatar. It's just the movie in it's entirety by itself and nothing else.

Yeah, Blu Ray isn't going to save the movie much.

Who's going to buy it without special features? People who'd pay for this movie are pretty much the enthusiasts who look past the story, and they won't buy a "vanilla" version to begin with.

*Goes to buy "The Hurt Locker" instead, just to spite Cameron*

November is when the full 3D 4 disc set comes out.

Besides I don't see a problem, its a good movie and the most successful one at that. I just heard its a good transfer, one of the best ever and being a tech junkie that means a lot to me

Not to be jumping on the bandwagon, but I never had any interest in it from the start, furries or otherwise

haters gonna hate

Nah, to be honest it was quite enjoyable to watch in 3D in the theaters. Can't imagine it'd be very good at home though, since it's mostly just eye candy.

I didn't know eye candy was only available in 3D? Damn.... I don't have a 3D TV... it all looks like shit :-(
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
