Playing an xbox 360 on a crt does not give you scanlines... unfortunately.

The best way to have awesome (fake) scanlines in all variations horizontally and vertically on a hdtv is the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D.

Fixed.

Okay, if we're going to get that technical about the definition of a scanline, then the scanline is actually the image itself and not the space between.

The point stands: the 360 can not inherently do 240p, which is what a scanline option would be trying to emulate whether it's on a CRT or LCD.

Yeah but it's an awesome piece of equipment. Of course, "just" using this for Live-keying isn't very convenient, but if you're in need of an universal capture solution AND like to mess with realtime overlays that thing is great and believe it or not it's one of the more affordable hardware for this task.

I don't know about that. The EQ is much better but the lack of the Amen and the other sampled breaks makes it sound more like MIDI shit.

Still great tunes though. ;)

Agreed, X-Mode looks pretty nice. I'm really looking forward to it now 8)

No way, I thought it sounded awful compared to the original track. Who remixed it by the way? Namiki himself? However, I really liked the DOJ BLEX remixed soundtrack, but this just sounds like a weakened "wave style" Ketsui. As long as it is possible I'd always choose the original OST to play.

I'm a little surprised that no one has brought this up, but does anyone find the near constant "beeping" from the lock on the slightest bit annoying? I worry that after a long play session I'll be hearing similar beeping sounds in the real word and it will trigger the immediate response for me to blow something innocent up.

That was one of the changes in the PCB revision.

It's annoying when your watching a replay but when playing it's well handy.

It's been discussed many times. To get scanlines while playing CAVE games on the 360 connected to an LCD (arcade mode) you need an Extron Emotia + XRGB-3, all for under $300.

As for the X-Mode video, it looks like a lot of fun!! Only thing that bothers me is the shadow of the flying ships... they disappear once in a while. I hope this is due to the way they captured the video...

This is either a complete lie or a gross oversimplification.

If you're implying that all scanlines are a software effect that must be added to the source image, you cannot be further from the truth - scanlines are nothing more than a byproduct of older display technology. Any method you've listed in this thread to "support" scanlines are doing nothing more than modifying the source image to emulate this effect on newer displays that do not use the same refresh scheme.

my favorite remix track from BLEX was the epic stage 4 progressive guitar rock track. the ketsui tracks in that trailer sound like they lean more to that vein, with the exception of the first two stages which admittedly sound weaker than the original tracks.

I saw one of those "reviews" about ESPG II on the iPhone app store. It was a bitchfest about how the game was a waste of money at $5 because he beat it in 45 minutes by credit feeding. He even went on to say that just because it was more expensive on other platforms didn't make it worth $5.

That's not what I was implying at all. I was clarifying that the scanline is not the dark line, but the line where the beam is drawing on the CRT; we just usually refer to the dark lines as scanlines. Undamned was trying to say you get scanlines with a 360 on a CRT, and you do, technically you can't NOT have a scanline on a CRT, but what we want is the appearance of a greater distance between the scanlines (so you can see the dark lines). Since the 360 can't output 240p, the next best thing is a "scanline effect."

Sounds like some people out here in Japan getting their copies today, hopefully someone picks it up early on and gives a run down.

A supplier in Tokyo received a batch of X360 Ketsui Kizuna Jigoku Tachi Extra last Friday and shipped an allocation of the game to us. We've received the shipment today and we'll be able to clear roughly 3/4 of our reservations for the limited edition of the game and roughly 1/8 of our reservations of the regular edition. They received a lot more of the LE than the RE last week. The remainder of our shipments are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday of this week since most of our Japanese vendors did not receive their copies of Ketsui until last night.
Though this was posted earlier, this is a bit of an update that the stuff actually arrived today. Here's hoping mine gets shipped on Tuesday/Wednesday. :)

I'd like to hear how accurate or not the XBox 360 game of Ketsui X is compared to the PCB variant.

Yeah, that above Ketsui X quote is taken from the NCSX site. Makes me wonder if Cave will release this in the USA...Aksys Games could do it properly with some cool extra goodies.

I saw a video of the 360 Ketsui side-by-side with the PCB on Nico Nico for the first stage, and the main difference that was apparent was that the warning screen for the boss appeared a little less than a second earlier on the 360, most likely due to the removal of slowdown.
