Hallmark, the creator and seller of fine Christmas ornaments...many with cool high-tech features such as minature LEDs, sound EFX chips, and motorized motion. One ornament they made even featured a back-lit LCD screen with a black and white colored motif.
Started in 2008, Hallmark released it's minature electronic endowed Pac-Man arcade cab ornament that was a bit reminiscent of the Bally Midway MFG Co. produced cab of the same name circa 1980 (but endowed with modern-day Pac-Man side art courtesy of Namco-Bandai).
In 2009, Hallmark released another minature arcade electronic ornament called Galaga with artwork that was pretty much spot on like it's original full-sized Bally Midway produced Galaga cab. Upon checking out the 2010 Hallmark Dream Book that arrived in the mail yesterday, the 2010 minature electronic arcade game cabinet ornament was never featured nor mentioned whatsoever. So it has officially ended.
I was hoping to see, at the very least, a cool minature Ms. Pac-Man electronic X-Mas ornament for the 2010 Hallmark ornament collection (but it seems that the head honchos decided that just Pac-man and Galaga are the only two to have been produced/sold to the general public). Had to assume that not enough folks went out and bought the 2nd released Galaga ornament to justify the need/want to produce a 3rd electronic minature arcade cabinet ornament. So be it. If there was one made, it would've made it's grand debut in the USA & Canada in October 2010.
I don't think Hallmark realizes that there are more cool retro 1980s minature electronic arcade cab ornaments to cash in on. Since they started the cool new trend with it's intial two mini cab ornaments, why not continue the series & perhaps branch out in making some licensed electronic mini pinball table ornaments from Williams, Stern, Gottlieb, etc.
There is, however, the cool 2010 Hallmark Lightcycle ornament that was licensed from Disney to promote the upcoming summer 2010 live action/CG film better known as Tron Legacy. It's nice to see Syd Mead's newest Lightcycle fully realized in three dimensions. It would've been awesome if Hallmark had released the original Tron Lightcycle ornament for the X-mas 1982 ornament collection but didn't do so. Better later than never, right? This particular lightcycle ornament is slated for an October 2010 release. I'll definitely be getting it on day one of release indeed.

Re: No new 2010 Hallmark arcade cab X-Mas ornament this year...
Doesn't surprise me, since Pac-Man and Galaga seem to be the two arcade games most non-gamers can even remember.

The non-gaming folks would recall some of these classic 1980s arcade game cabs with fond memories:
Ms. Pac-Man
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Frogger
Dragon's Lair Laserdisc game from Starcom/Cinematronics circa 1983 (even the 1991 sequel of Dragon's Lair 2 Laserdisc game from Leland Corporation comes to mind)
Space Ace - 2nd follow-up Laserdisc game from Cinematronics after the release of DL LD game
Q*Bert - the crazy diagonal joystick oriented puzzler from Gottlieb (even the rare Q*bert's Qubes cab was a little seen arcade sequel)
Star Wars - color vectorized upright & deluxe cockpit sitdown cabs from Atari Games circa 1983 (or even the little seen cool arcade Empire Strikes Back conversion kits to refit Star Wars cabs into ESB cabs)
So yes, Hallmark's definitely missing the boat by not making cool electronic ornaments of the above listed classic arcade cabs.

Are there any pics around yet? I googled a bit but didn't turn up anything.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Hallmark, the creator and seller of fine Christmas ornaments...many with cool high-tech features such as minature LEDs, sound EFX chips, and motorized motion. I'll have to scan the page that features the new Tron Legacy Lightcycle ornament. It looks like the cool newly redesigned Lightcycles shown in the TL movie trailer with the evil Flynn battling it out with another video warrior to the death. It's been said that this new TL film takes place twenty years later after the events of the first Tron flick. I'm sure it'll be well worth the wait to see the sequel in Disney's Real-D 3-D format as it was meant to be see in.

Here are the promised pics of the upcoming Disney Tron Legacy Lightcycle ornament. It is powered by button cell batteries and will be included when you buy the actual ornament at your local Hallmark store this coming October 2010.

http://img301.imageshack.us/i/img1261f.jpg/ (with the flash on to better see what the production ornament will look like)
The pics are just of the prototype ornament (but the actual final production ornament will look virtually like the proto ornament itself).
