Classic Game Boards

Post by Sparky »

I haven't owned any pre-JAMMA boards but I am familiar with converting some to JAMMA through custom adapter/harness. What I am curious about is hardware that came in dedicated machines; such as After Burner, Outrun, and Hang On.

Looking over these boards it appears they use different pin configurations and some don't have any edge connector at all. One board that I am interested in right now is a Space Harrier PCB.

My question: Is it possible to use these boards in a standard JAMMA setup or is there custom hardware or interface board that would need to be in place in between.

Thanks!

Video and audio wouldn't be a problem. Even non jamma PCB's still use 12v 5v and -5v.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

That would be a wiring nightmare, and remember Space Harrier uses analogue controls.

I think of all the games you could want to play on a standard JAMMA setup this would be one of the hardest to get working. Just finding the pinouts is difficult enough never mind getting appropriate controllers.
