SF Bay Area Shmupmeet - 4/30 (is over)

Hi guys, I've got Ketsui Extra pre-ordered, and looking to try out a late evening/night shmupmeet on Friday 4/30. Unsure of times and logistics (food) just yet, but putting a feeler out there to see who would be able to make this.

Update: Times 6pm - Midnight. We will order pizza for those that arrive before 7:30pm and haven't had dinner.

My copy will be in by then too, and I should have a 360->JAMMA rig ready, complete with 240p via an extron emotia.

Oh man! I think I can make this one Dave... I am leaving for Hong Kong on May 2nd so it will all depend on my work load as the date gets closer. Hopefully I will be in the clear and I can make it out... finally!

omg, genesis cab play?!? I havent sold my huge Genny lot, I have 120+ games which I could bring selections from if people request it:

I also have a flash cart I can bring with 10 or so games if people want something that I don't have in that list (like imports).

I can also bring Cotton if anyone wants or my SUPER overclocked multibios Neo Geo 1-slot if people want to play the fastest Metal Slug 2 possible..

is DANGUN FEVERON going to be there ?

I will actually be in the area for business, so will pop in. I work nights as well (Asian hours) but Friday is Saturday in Japan so should be able to get away around 6PM or so.

I'll go ahead and ask in the thread now and not make Dave do all the leg work. My flight is early in the AM out of SF, no San Jose. What are the chances of me hitching a ride to the airport hotel after the meet? If that's unpossible, what does a cab run?

I have a MD adapter, but my genesis isn't region modded, so if the game does a region check it won't run. also, my hacked controllers are inside my genny. I do have a PS2->JAMMA if anyone has a Tototek MD->PS2 controller adapter.

that's not to too far past me, I can take you if no one is going back to SF up 101.

According to the HS thread you 1CC'd Ketsui, and nobody has done that yet at any of my shmupmeets on the PCB. No pressure though, but your ride to SFO may depend upon it.

Thats awesome news if you can make it man! Finally you'll meet the entire Windy family. So are you driving down 101 or 880?

Besides Antron, I believe there are a few others driving down the peninsula side near SFO.

Ish and I will all be commuting down the Peninsula so if GP needs a ride back up to the airport he can certainly come along and I'll drop him off there. It's not biggie as I'll be driving back up to the Millbrae BART station anyhow so it's perfect timing if he wants to come along.

Aight, so looks like my ride is sorted out. I just need to figure out if I'm staying in San Jose and where to rent a car if I do. I'm working in Los Gatos but have a 24 hour fitness membership and need to get rid of these budding man-tits I started to develop over winter.

I've only played a handful of credits on Ketsui since that illusive 1CC (which was one day before my son was born), and it was an ugly one. I bombed the last boss to death. I'll try to bust out the PCB this week and get some practice in though. Futari BL God is probably fresher in my mind, but even that I'd need to spend about 3 days w/ the board to get back on track. Weird how the patterns totally escape you.

Should I be bringing anything? I probably have no boards that Dave doesn't, but figured I'd throw it out there.

Come to think of it, I've not played much of anything Cave in a while. Even the Futari & ESPGaluda II ports I pussied out on. Will there be a Futari BL up at the meet, or strictly Ketsui? It would be nice to practice at least one and not look like a slacker.

Been playing old school Mame for the most part, and the only recent shooter I've tried to clear that's somewhat difficult is Radirgy Noa which I doubt you have (it's dirty cheap though now, btw).

No need to bring anything GP. I have the Futari port (with BL), and also Radirgy Noa for Naomi but haven't played it more than 10 minutes. Besides us playing Jamma Genny, and Ketsui PCB + port, I also have a decent catalog of Raizing, Toaplan, Psikyo and some obscure gems.

I'm probably just going to stay in Los Gatos for work and mosey over on Friday. Might even be able to turn in my rent-a-car at the aiport, but I'll kep everyone abreast. I have a pretty busy schedule of boozing today and working next week so might be under the radar for a while.

Update:

I will be returning my rent-a-car on Friday and working in Los Gatos until whenever on Friday. Would be nice if someone could pick me up to take me to Dave's. I can fork up some dough for gas and shit. Should I bring my own food?

neither of those do a region check and fortunately most region check roms out there have hacked versions available now to run them on US systems
