Are the extras in Platinum versions?

Post by DazTM »

I've noticed that a number of 360 shooters are available in Platinum form. Aside from the obviously cheaper price and those horrible straps are only extras (like downloadable content) ever included with them?

If memory serves the Platinum of DeathSmiles includes the Mega Black Label DLC, but that's the only re-release I can think of with extra stuff on it (I might have missed another, though).

Has this actually been officially confirmed somewhere? I've seen it mentioned here several times, but I don't recall ever seeing anything official about it. Could be I've just missed it.

Relatedly, I wonder if the Otomedius Gorgeous Platinum has all the DLC included.

The NCSX listing says Black Label is on there, though I'm not sure how "official" that is.

I think that someone who bought it and commented in the game's main thread said that it looked the same as the original release.

It says "Mega Black Label included on the disc" in big font at the top.

Otomedius Gorgeous contains nothing extra. You even have to patch the game the first time you play it
So I'm guessing it's the same as the original version.

What about for past games? Everyone knows that Soukyugurentai Otokuyo ditched the English text that was causing import issues and added the Battle Garegga demo. But were there other shooters where the Best/GH/PH/PC re-release contained more extras or fixes?

Platinum versions of games usually contain music disc or game art don't they?

Did only one version of Raiden DX contain the Battle Balls demo, or did both the original and re-release have it?

Only the original release has the Mezase! Senkyuu-Ou demo (in the Extras menu)

Ah, interesting to know. Glad I have the original Raiden DX then.

Nope, a large percentage of branded re-releases contain slight code changes that nobody ever figures out (that's why cheating devices have codes for different version of games) although sometimes, players do notice bug fixes (a few examples being Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Busin 0). And the other large group is identical to the original game code in every way. Only a few have extras and most of those are very recent, where it's become a habit to include most of a game's DLC into the Platinum Hits version. A very few contain additional material bonuses beyond that (most are only available to limited/collectors editions).

Ah, ok. I have a few boxed sets of games like Dux, Border Down, Blaze Blue, etc. They came with extras.
