"Bliss", the famous default Windows XP desktop image, is a photograph of a landscape in Sonoma County, California. It was taken in 1996 by professional photographer Charles O'Rear, aside the highway 12/121, using a hand held view camera. The approximate location is 3050 Fremont Dr. (Sonoma Hwy.), Sonoma, CA.

"Otorhinolaryngologist" is another designation for an Ear-Nose-and-Throat doctor. It's painfully obvious why the term is seldom used instead of just E.N.T.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is a fantastic Tetris player; in the 1990s he submitted so many high scores to Nintendo Power that they would no longer print his scores, so he started sending them in under the alphabetically reversed "Evets Kainzow".

- Here's a bootleg copy of MGS1 that I own: http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4428/x348fc02d.jpg
Its title translated back to English means 'Tactical Espionage Shooter: Metallic Soldiers'

- Treasure are ex-Konami members

- The first commercial game to feature both Mario and Sonic is Mega Turrican: http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=13590

Speaking of Turrican:

- Super Turrican for NES was done by Manfred Trenz alone

- The word 'Turrican' was taken by Herr Trenz from a phone book

- The word 'Katakis' was taken from the title of a restaurant and was given two new meanings: a C64 shmup and a planet-in-distress from Super Turrican

- Generalíssimo Francisco Franco is still dead

There is another difference: Raizing games are not launched or crash the FinalBurn Alpha on my PSP

In the Archie comic book Sonic the Hedgehog, the hero's name is not really Sonic -- that's merely a nickname, just as "Tails" is a nickname for Miles Prower. Then what is Sonic's real name? Original writer Ken Penders intended it to be "Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog", but he left the comic before he could make it canon. Writer Ian Flynn has stated that it's not Olgilvie, and although the first name was never revealed, he's been ultimately rechristened "Sonic" anyway. So his name, as confirmed, is: Sonic Maurice Hedgehog.

Of course, the comic's continuity is 99% divorced from the games... (and it actually makes more sense!)

Sauce.

Throne of Blood (Akira Kurosawa film): the actor playing the messenger Toshiro Mifune kills in anger put a wooden slat under his clothing to absorb the sword blow. Mifune busted it in half, giving the guy a scar he carries to this day (yep, fella's still alive).

-Michael Jackson and Brad Buxer had in fact worked on the original soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
-"Double Spoiler" is misspelled on the game's case.
--------
On ESP Ra.De.:
-Related, that whole title is short "esper raging decide", if the materials have anything to say about it.
-As if to prove the above, "ESP" is read like "esp" (as in "Esperanto"); the title is read as one word ("esp-raid"). The same applies for Espgaluda.

-The "Yaksa" cult seems to reference this concept. I don't know how it can be pushed.
--------
edit: since this is appropriate; "Dariusburst" is supposedly intended to be written like that. in fact...

edit 2: my current post count is Nineteen Eighty-Four. I have not finished that yet, nor have I finished 1942.

In Dogyuun!, the final stage's mid-boss appearing after the tortured robots gets harder based on how many of the tortured robots you killed.

Grind Stormer is not only different from V-Five in terms of power-ups and bombs, it has some altered enemy placement as well.

R-Type would've had five power-ups, the missing two's data is still present in the original.

Metal Slug X and 3 have an unused weapon that lets you fire the tank's cannon shells out of your handgun.

Metal Slug 5 has an unused area where literally every enemy was stuffed into. There are even some unused ones!

esreveR has only managed to count 102 different fetishes of his, so stop saying he has 'over nine thousannnd' of them.

The first boss in In The Hunt can have its arms blown off. If you do so, part of the hull comes off, revealing its fishbone-like internal ribbing.

In Dimahoo, Gigafacer drops a Pinwheel if you hit it with an Elemental Burst with an empty bomb gauge.

If you kill all the stupid alien heads in Truxton II, Pipi will come out of the last one and spew power-ups when shot.

In Metal Slug, Satiko Suzuki (The girl in the 1P ending) is the reason why you have three lives: She wishes you to revive when you die.

You can actually pick up enemies bigger than your ship in Dogyuun!. It slows down your ship though.

Metal Slug 5 has two unused bosses, some stone tortoise mecha and a bearded man on a flying pillar.

All of the Raiden Mk-II's sprite data can be found in Viper Phase 1, from the thermonuclear bombs to the point items!

Black holes are so strong that they literally warp space and time.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, and Barack Obama were totally opposed to majority-rule voting when they were the minority party in the House and Senate. Only now that they're in the majority do they say it's fine.

Dark Sword's palette can be found in Raiden Fighters Jet's ship slelect screen. Oddly, it seems Dark Sword itself is unable to be selected, and Blue Javelin's palette appears again shortly afterward, implying another perhaps-unused ship shares its palette with it.

The allied tanks in Raiden Fighters 2 have full animation, despite them only appearing momentarily.

throwing toilet paper in the toilet to prevent toilet water from splashing up on your junk...is not useless a fact at all

I do it everyday. thanks to this thread i don't get water on my ass or other things when i poo now. but sometimes if you put to much toilet paper in the toilet the poo doesn't go under the water at all and stinks up the entire bathroom, whether it's a public bathroom or at home.

If you ever come to Brazil DO NOT throw anything in the toilet, it takes very little to get it clogged. A friend of our family came here to spend a day, clogged our toilet by throwing toilet paper in it and left without saying anything :?

The word "bedlam", meaning a situation of chaos and uproar, is derived from the Bethlem Royal Hospital, world's first institution to specialise in the mentally ill.

Also, brazilian-portuguese slang "pinel", meaning an insane person, is derived from French physician and pioneering psychiatrist Philippe Pinel.

In Phantasy Star IV when the player asks grandfather Dorin about Alys' measurements he states "thirty-six, twenty..." before being interrupted by a flying fist. At first glance, the combination of a bust measurement of 36 inches and a waist meaurement of 20 inches would seem to be highly unlikely. In the original Japanese version Dorin-sama states "88, rokujuu..." and it is apparent that the second figure is probably greater than 60 but Dorin-sama simply didn't have a chance to say the final digit, hinting that the translators may have intended the same in the English version, and a more likely figure of at least 23.6". 88cm converts to 34.6" but due to a difference in convention in sizing bras in the Japanese market compared to the USA market, a nominal 88cm bra with any cup size larger than A would be closer to a 34" or even 32". Clearly, the translators envisioned our heroine as a larger woman than what the Japanese had in mind (or alternatively, they didn't know/care about the whole issue).
