Is Super Famicom shmup "Rendering Ranger" any good
I was watching the Cinematech show on G4 cable/sattelite a couple weeks back and they were showing some rare console games along with their going internet auction prices. Then they showed some FVM clips of the Super Famicom shmuppy title by the name of "Rendering Ranger" which caught my eye.
How much does "Rendering Ranger" usually go for (in U.S. dollars-wise) and what is rarity factor of it anyways?
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~

It rocks!
The shmup stages (horizontal) is fabulously put together and hard, albeit with some (three) bland bosses toward the end. I would venture as far as claiming that it is on the same caliber with Axelay or any of the Gradiuses or Bio Metal (yes, I like it a lot, what?).
The side scrolling stages are rock solid, though maybe not as enjoyable as the like of Megaman X.
This game also sport some of the best graphics you will ever see on the SNES. Some of the effects on this game make Secret of Mana 2 look amateur.

Amazing game, it's one part Contra (rather than Turrican) and one part ThunderForce. The only thing that is disappointing is the soundtrack, it sucks. Manfred should have had the sound guy from most the Turrican games do it. I bought my copy from VGI, after shipping and all that jazz it ended up being like $175. On Ebay you can expect to pay $200+, it used to even go for $300.

I also caught a glimpse of this one on G4's Cinematech Rare Games Special. I think they listed at $600 or something. That's fuggin rediculous! BUT, it was the most impressive looking game on there. Those shmup stages looked amazing. I was like....
....through the whole clip. I couldn't believe that it was a Super Famicom title.

As I said my friend, the graphics on this game makes Secret of Mana 2 looks amateur in comparison. The Bullet Dodger wrote:I also caught a glimpse of this one on G4's Cinematech Rare Games Special. And SoM2 is normally considered to have the best graphics on the Snes

I have no sig whatsoever.
Yeah, strangely enough, it was a European designed game that only got released in Japan. I wish this and the Europe only NES Super Turrican got released in the US. (I also wish random game bashing would stay on the cutting room floor, oh well)Cthulhu wrote:Wait, I thought Turrican was a European game...? Yup, Turrican was made by Factor 5, German folks.Cthulhu wrote:Wait, I thought Turrican was a European game...? Is Rendering Ranger European and only got released in Japan or something? Interesting... I'll have to check this one out sometime! I looove Super Turrican. (For some reason, I've never liked the original Turrican, but Super is, well, super.BrianC wrote: Yeah, strangely enough, it was a European designed game that only got released in Japan.
