Just thought I'd send a bit of an update - Dave can't make it - some kung fu thing he's got going on, but Andi and I will be heading down with Dave's cab and pcb's, so he'll be there in spirit. I'll pour out a little for him during the weekend.

Looking forward to this! See you all soon.

I really would like to have the Chicago boys at this meet. How does the 24th of April sound for a reschedule?

I will PM all of you who have given a definite yes to April the 10th and we will go from there.

April 24th works for me at the moment. I don't think I have anything to do then.

I've had 4 replies of "sounds good to me" so it looks like April 24th.

I'll be in touch.

I am trying to keep myself calm, cool, and collected here, but I am really getting pumped for this meet! I know we have made a couple of date changes, but I am willing to do this for the common good. I need all my peeps here!

I keep getting responses from other shmup fanatics in the surrounding area, so gunbird18's cave is going to be bursting at the seams, and that is a good thing! I can handle it!

Just think about the stories that will be told: the cheapest deal on a pcb, the highest score while I was drunk, I got my girlfriend to play Mushi while wearing a Reco costume, etc.

Don't miss this event! This will be one for the books!

Cheapest deal on a PCB has to go to dr. boom. I've got a shitload of stories though usually about just any topic. Anyone who's been around me drunk knows that there's an endless supply usually. Its a damned shame the guy who runs the import shop in St. Charles can't come. He'd be great for stories and playing games as well.

If you can't catch a ride with Stu, I'd be happy to swing by and pick you up! I'll be heading by KC anyways.

It turned out I would have been able to make it on April 10th. Now I definitely cannot. :( Perhaps caldwert can get some other St. Louisans to RISE FROM THEIR BOG and roll with him.

Funny story....

If it makes y'all (yeah, I said it :roll: ) feel any better, this will be held in my basement and we will be safe if we have any major storms coming our way. May is definitely Tornado Season in Missouri, so there is always a possibility of storms.

My family and I had just got back from a weekend at teh in-laws tonight, and I was checking up on the shmups site, when I received a PM from robivy64. He was telling me to get everything under a roof as there looked to be a major storm with hail coming my way. Get this...he is down in Alabama, I am in Missouri...so I'm like "Whatever, dude, how do you know all of this?". He sends me a link...there is a mondo "supercell" headed right for our area. Not 15 minutes later, the city sirens start wailing and I get my family down in the basement. Then he PMs me about a tornado touch down in the area! Well, we didn't see a tornado, thank God! But we did experience some wind, marble size hail, and a torrential downpour which flooded most of the streets.

Just goes to show that your shmup-brothers watch out for you! We do care about our fellow shmup addicts!

+1 to robivy64 for alerting me about the possible danger to my shmup collection! (sad as it is right now)

Entirely OT, but a great story too good not to share!

Weather is my other hobby. 8)

I had been keeping an eye on this storm, and recognized your city in the warned area. There were a few storm chasers following it as well.

Here is the bulletin I received from the NWS:

Code: Select all

 The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
southern Randolph County in north central Missouri...

* until 730 PM CDT

* at 700 PM CDT... trained weather spotters reported a tornado 4 miles
southeast of Salisbury. Doppler radar showed this tornado moving
east at 50 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Moberly... Higbee... Clark and Renick.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

To repeat... a tornado is on the ground. Take cover now. Move to an
interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid
windows. If in a Mobile home... a vehicle or outdoors... move to the
closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
I'm glad you dodged the bullet! :)

Just a heads up/interest check but is anyone looking to buy anything at this meet? Specifically PCB's, Turbo Duo/PCE, and PS2 related? Maybe even a cabinet? Let me know. I figure its easier to ask now thatn spring it on people there at the meet and they didn't have time to allot for spending.

Already bringing Caldwert something to the meet that he bought, Crude Buster for Megadrive :) If anybody else wanted to get something from this thread I could do the same for ya. Might be adding some more older stuff to that soon!

Also I could bring some arcade sticks for PS2 for sale if anybody is interested. I've got a custom one with a Sanwa JLF stick and Seimitsu buttons that Aleanil made me a long time ago, although it's sitting in a pretty dull looking base that belonged to a scrapped Naki stick. I'll take a picture of it if someone's interested. Also have a Tekken 5 stick that came with the collectors edition that I would part with for cheap cheap (it's just hori parts, looks nice though and would be a great stick for someone starting out... or who actually plays Tekken)

Drunkninja, trade me some fireworks from Hale's for games, haha. I guess nobody has any wants? Should I post a list? I'm kind of leaving it open to people saying oh hey, I recall you own this, want to sell it?

I have a new item to bring, a VERY rarely seen game but I am in the process of getting it fully working. It might have to take an express trip to Channel Maniac to ensure proper playage. Hint, Seibu.

Well, my expertise has been exhausted, not that it was any expertise, nonetheless it will make an appearance at the meet in one shape or another.
