Well,

thank god for shmups, fighters, rpg's, platforming games and first person shooters.

The rest i do not like where it is heading, i guess i am more retro than current.

Shmups are my favorite and that is the only reason i can justify posting this concern.

You must admit that things have changed a lot since the 360 and ps3 came on board, The wii gives me more of what i want and the import 360.

Well have a stab at it, let the public know if you agree or not that things sure have changed alot.

Let us know if you feel that something very important has been lost in the video game world.

Or am i the one who got let behind...

but the Wii is largely a collection of balls and waggle nonsense. Some great games, but most of it is garbage.

Not saying that X360/Ps3 is any better -for you- but... the Wii ....

Not totally thrilled with the way gaming is going (Natal, 3DS, Move, Wii) but core gaming is still pretty strong, Indie gaming on the rise, "bite sized" gaming (PSN, XBLA, Wii) good, PC gaming leading the tech charge....

Well it is like this the geners i mentioned are what i am into, i like the pc alot to.
Shmups don't sell well in america I can think of just few hard disk ones that made it over here.
It makes me very angry that almost everything i liked about in the video game world ( at least in the usa) is gone. Back in the 90's when sony was kind to us they pumped out quite a few shmups that sat on store shelves.
I also dab in the arcade as well but that for the most part is just a memory now there is nothing like going into a dark room loaded with great arcade games you would think people might try to take a lesson from japan or some other country that is into that sort of thing. But a dollar to doughnut it would not catch on here.
I was simply trying to make a point and voice my opinion on what my outlook is on the video game scene.

The change in question was about 15 years ago. Games have never been about gameplay since then, just about technology. The gameplay changed around 1995 but since then nothing has changed. Want to see whats on the horizon? Well, its about the same as what you got now. FPS, sports, shooting.

that's right folks, for 15 years all games have been about tech, no one looked at gameplay AT ALL!
Hell, i remember when people were saying "every game is a platform shooter! No one cares about gameplay anymore!" ... though that was at least 20 years ago.

i am aware that there's a glut of shit in the modern gen, more so than before, but we managed to AVOID the shit for XX many gens, i've no idea why we suddenly have LOST this ability now.
There's a GLUT of good GAMEPLAY experiences out there - if you can't find them, you simply aren't trying.

I expected to get this sort of feedback, this was my point to just to try and get the wheels rolling on this sad reality that what sells in america for the most part is awfull. Any true video gamer knows that things need to go back to there roots ( which most likely won't happen).

The only thing I hate is how damn expensive new game consoles are. Especially for how unreliable they are!

Not down with all the Wii bashing, you folks are focussing on the wrong things. Exercise games, quizzes and cooking aren't meant for you. Sin & Punishment 2, Mario Galaxy, Castlevania & Contra Rebirth, Okami, Murasama: Demon Blade, Zelda, are. They make a lot of 360/PS3 stuff look like uninspired, unimaginative tripe.

Once again: Sin & Punishment 2. Makes most 360/PS3 games seem last gen. I say no more.

ergh ... the sheer majority and mass of games may not be the titles you want...

HOWEVER, the general trends only add security and accessibility to all gaming in general. I also think there's a tendency to think of a golden yesteryear in a condensed form rather than observing the 5-20 years it is actually spread over, whilst forgetting a lot of in-between shit sandwiches.

Personally I can't really see any areas of gaming really having weakened over the past - say - 5 years. If anything the more 'traditional' genres have seen a massive upswing in numbers now that developers are working out how to produce and distribute these in a profitable manner, often whilst simultaneously sustaining 'new' and 'blockbuster' productions.

This is different to the nes glory days, but there were precious few good options then anyway.
