A new sci-fi epic RPG game by the name of Infinite Space for the NDS is slated for release in North America courtesy of Sega. A March 2010 release date is expected as usual. Looks great with the 1980's inspired opening anime cutscenes with a combination of both CG and hand-drawn anime. How is the JPN release of Infinite Space in general?

I'm probably going to wait on this one...off the cuff it looks to fall into the same category as Sands of Destruction and Glory of Heracles, i.e. "it's kinda cool, but the system's more than saturated genre-wise as it is." I've no idea how it was actually received overseas though.

Game sucked.

We are holding the secret power of shmups.

That's a shame. I had high hopes for the game, but I never really understood exactly what you're doing in the game...

I don't see how Infinite Space falls into to the same category as Sands of Destruction and Glory of Heracles since it isn't a standard JRPG and involves starship battles with simulation elements (and I don't see how the DS is saturated genre-wise since it needs more heavy hitters in the RPG category that aren't ports). So far, I have read some favorable impressions on the game, though ntsc-uk's review was a scattered review that seemed to mostly like the game, but gave a 5/10 (I know it's average, but average is not as good as the review implied). I'm on the fence and waiting for more impressions, but it sounds interesting.BulletMagnet wrote:I'm probably going to wait on this one...off the cuff it looks to fall into the same category as Sands of Destruction and Glory of Heracles, i.e. "it's kinda cool, but the system's more than saturated genre-wise as it is." adversity1, why do you feel the game sucks?

Bought this NDS game of Infinite Space recently and upon booting it up for the first time, it has a four minute & nine seconds long opening FMV anime intro. Quite long, especially on the NDS platform. Looks quite small running on the NDS Lite with the overall widescreen 16:9 aspect raito FMV presentation but would look awesome/stunning on the NDS XL or NDS LL handheld variants.
The 3-D polygonal battlecruisers remind me of 1st-gen PSX type of polygonal type of graphics. I get the impression that some of the enemy battlecruisers that if you shoot at them in either "Normal" or "Barrage" mode, your shots will miss entirely or hit some of the time (even if you are in close proxmity close quarters battle situations). Sometimes, enemy space pirateship fightercraft will engage in combat with you or you'll have the chance to raid some cruiserships full of valuable treasure booty to boost up your credits (money) level.
Interest interface in getting different characters assigned to different tasks aboard the various battlecruisers that you can buy/have built/customized.
If your battlecriuser simply gets hit enough times, it'll blast to smithereens...and eventually, the "Game Over" screen appears. Where's that handy "shield button" when you need it most to block the heavy incoming return-fire from enemy ships?
If you don't manually save at certain key save points, you run into the risk of replaying some key events all over again until you save properly. There isn't a handy instant save option to save at anytime but could've been implemented easily.
The digitized voiceovers are a bit low compared to the sound effects even if the NDS to set to it's highest volume limit. Sure would've been nice if there was an option to adjust voiceovers, sound effects & BGM individually volume-wise at the Options screen menu.
Sega of America (SOA) could've added some improvements as stated above to this NDS IS title and it would've been a better RTS-RPG than it's original JPN NDS title release indeed.

Would love to hear more feedback. I keep thinking about this title, but plenty of mixed reviews--a number of which make the game out as clunky and a chore.
For me, coming out within a week of Strange Journey immediately put it on the back burner.

I find that playing it on a DSi that the audio tends to be louder and clearer.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:The digitized voiceovers are a bit low compared to the sound effects even if the NDS to set to it's highest volume limit.
