Was there a single-player control panel for Egret 2?
Was there a single-player control panel for Egret 2?
The one on my cabinet is the Atomiswave with the card readers on it, but I was curious if there was a single-player official Egret 2 control panel, or just the two-player models I've seen for sale on occasion? Thanks.

Yes, both a single player and dual player control panel were made for the Egret 2. I've got an Egret 3 dual player control panel on mine...fits like a glove. Looks nice with the overall purple color theme despite it not being an original or repro Egret 2 control panel setup. If I had an Egret 3 marquee and side art stickers, the E2 cab could pass off as an Egret 3 cab with ease.

I'd bet the single-player Egret 2 panel is harder than hell to find. You say they make reproductions of it?

I meant to say that it is possible to buy repro Egret 2 control panel overlay (CPO) artwork to cover your existing E2 or E3 metal plate that comprises of the bottom portion of the control panel setup if you wanted to. You'd then just need to source a one-player Egret 2 metal plate piece for the control panel. My apologies for not making this clear on my last post. Fellow shmupper maxchainsplendid sells the repro Egret 2 control panel overlay (CPO) artwork on his site: http://www.mcs-arcade.com
Here's what the single player Egret 2 CPO looks like: http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/mcs ... ockid=2285
Here's what the dual player Egret 2 CPO looks like: http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/mcs ... ockid=2286

Mine (reproduction):

Panel is bought from www.starcab.net and the artwork is by MCS linked to in the previous post. The CPO is quite a bit darker than the originals, and the silver is gray instead. The reproduction overlay is also very shiny when compared to the original artwork. But it does looks awesome, and you just can't beat playing on a 1 player panel for serious shmupping.

It appears they're sold out of that particular control panel. Also, how do you mount the Siemitsu LS32 stick to the back of those generic panels without a bracket on them. And what about the extra button holes. Can you just cover them up with the repro overlay? Is it sturdy enough?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I bought the 1L7B panel. With this one I just covered the extra holes with the CPO and it is good enough as it's at home. I just bought another one from them and this time I used some filler for the extra holes. The joystick mounting screws on the panel are included, and will fit a Seimitsu RE plate, no problem. My new plate from Starcab only had 1 start button, and the joystick plate was rotated 90 degrees from the last one I got from them. The one pictured had yet another start button to the left of the joystick.corbie wrote:It appears they're sold out of that particular control panel. Be aware though that the Starcab's "other users also bought this" connector that is pictured next to the plate will NOT fit in an EGRET II/AWSD. You'll need a female 15 pin JSL YL connector for that. I've been in contact with akihabarashop.jp and they can get those if you ask, hopefully they'll add them to their stock.

Yeah they're sold out of that one at the moment. I might just get it and fill the holes in before applying the overlay. It looks sweet on your cabinet. I don't like this card reader on mine. Below is mine in its current setup. But I do like the single-player panel as I like to sit in the middle of the cabinet to play. Plus I only use this Egret II for shmups, and those I play alone anyway.

Seasoned cab people could spot it a mile off still. Different bezel, riveted construction on the E3, etc. One look would be all it'd take.
