Neorichie's shmup meet (summer) in Bedford (UK)

Hello fellow shmuppers.

I have a few things I want to do before its possible to have a meet, like put a brand new garage door on my house and put some carpet on the inside amongst other things.

Inside that Garage is currently an atomiswave AWSD, 2 x New Astro city and and chinese candy cabinet. I also have a Supergun which should be ready to use by then. I also have a crap load of consoles. Genesis, Saturn, PS1, PS2, PS3, N64, Dreamcast and many others.

I have Cyvern, DDP, Battle Bakraid, ESP ra.de, Mushimesama, Ibara, Galaga 88 and Strikers 1945 plus in PCB form amongst other retro PCB's. I don't have any fighters although Tekken 5 is running on my console > jamma set up.

So, I'm scouting for interest. If anyone is interested let me know via PM or here. I think 8 people is a nice and round number if we can get that many. A nice Saturday or Sunday in the summer sunshine in Bedford would be nice to share with a few of you. I've been here many years on shmups and probably only met about 5 of you in real life.

To quality i'd prefer your trading score to be in the positive.

If it goes ahead I'd appreciate it if you could bring a PCB to share with others .

I'd totally like to make it to an international meet again, not sure Bedford's any easy to reach though! >.<

The Euro star train goes straight into St Pancras, which is exactly the right station to catch the train to Bedford. Bedford is 50 miles north of London and it costs about £20 return back to London.

Although I had more local interest in mind.

I'd come, but unfortunately by then I'll be living in Brussels. (Eurostar still applies for Brussels of course, but I'd prefer to drive to Bedford rather than train it).

I only met a couple of organizers since I bought 2 of the Astros from there. I did not actually look for shmuppers at all. I spent 2 hours there on the Sunday afternoon.


As it stands i've just scored an Alcon PCB. I've only played Slapfight on the C64 so wondering how this plays against that one.

Firebug is preparing my Supergun. I have a Hantarex monitor for that. The monitor can be used for the PS2 as well.

Both Astros are kitted out with new joysticks (ls-32) and buttons

So we have 4 cabs (3 horis and 1 vert) and a supergun, so if 8 people turn up we should be able to play a variety of games. I'll buy the drinks and snacks of sorts. We have a new Aldi store opening soon just down the road so anything you want will probably be sold there, its less than 3 minutes walk.

What would be a good starting time? Noon - till late sound good? I think too early and it wears a bit thin towards the end, too late and you'll be craving more when the last train leaves.. If I am sober I'll drive attendees to the stations applicable.

I live in Bedford on the East side so i'm pretty close to you just off the A1.
