The laws about importing pornographic material are really vague. The offical term for unlawful material is "obscene" - but in order to prove that something is obscene, the state (or someone else) must take things to court and get an official ruling that something is "obscene" and violates the legal (and social) standards of decency. It's a long process that very, very rarely gets applied to individuals.

That said, what customs officials actually do is another story entirely. I've had some H pc games sent to me just fine. (I'm shameless man, shameless ) I've heard of people having things confiscated by customs, but not for obscenity reasons...

The word "hentai" in Japanese means "pervert." They don't call animated porn (well, drawn porn would be a better description I guess) "hentai" in Japan. They call it "adult animation," or "adult PC games," or "bishoujo games" (bishoujo = "pretty girl"), and stuff like that. By the standard English definition, all "hentai" is porn.

That said, yes, I do have a decent amount of hentai.

I used to have so much hentai anime (illegally downloaded :\ ) and then I gave it all away save maybe 8 or so series and a few games... I was such a nut that I chose my screenie from it, although I'm now way more into shooters, the name stuck.

Doesn't look like there are any hentai animation titles for UMD yet but it's still really early so I wouldn't be surprised if a couple...pop up *ahem*. Live-action JAV is plenty good for me!

edit: waitaminute Cthulhu, you're living in Japan aren't you..? If you're ordering H-games then they'd be shipped domestically, basically? Would it be more of a problem shipping international?

I'm recounting my stories from being in America. I've lived in Japan for about a year this time (I lived in Osaka for a year too back in 2002), but I'm from the US of A.

I doubt they'll write "pornographic material" on the customs slip anyway. Maybe if you ask real nice, they'll write "l33t pR0Nz0rz" or something on there.
