Psikyo....what coulda been..
Re: Psikyo....what coulda been..
I think we'd all rather just pretend Zero Gunner didn't exist. And Pilot Kids.

Yes. But that was with everything on maximum, including lives, autofire, extends, and difficulty. So it's not really worth submitting unless other people like to muck around in service mode like I do.Dragoforce wrote:You got eleven milions in Dangun Feveron?esreveR wrote:I find this ironic when I scored eleven million and haven't even bothered to check there.
Also, I have never played any of the Model 2 games, because...uh, my current computer can't run shit in 3D. I'm getting an Alienware M15X soon, however, so that's subject to change.
Anyway, MAWS has a list of maintenance codes under like every Psikyo game, which is nice. You can enter Service Mode by pressing F2 (At least by default I believe). That's how I set all my games up, or else I use the dipswitch menu which is somewhere on the TAB menu.
As for Psikyo secrets, I wouldn't say that the lack of secrets is necessarily a bad thing, but for me at least it feels more like "Dodge bullets, shoot enemies, repeat". Games like Raiden Fighters make me happy because I always have to be on my toes if I'm to score big. Actually, I've never really tried to do a score run in Gunbird 2 or Dragon Blaze, so maybe I shouldn't be complaining.
Cave secrets? What kind of secrets were there in Dangun Feveron, other than the flying cat and that scoring mode thing...?

why everyones suddenly going on about there dangun scores im not sure ? anyways if you can do 11 mill with everything on max on a single cred surely it would be EASY for you to now go back to defaults and provide a score to contribute to the board?
Re: Psikyo....what coulda been..
I agree. Lots of fast-paced, accurate bullets in Psikyo shmups. Not only that, but most of the time the bullets are all the same color, which kind gets on my nerves a little. Still, their shmups provide a nice challenge to test your eye/hand coordination.Dragoforce wrote:Psikyo games always scare the crap out of me for some reason. I think it got something to do with the bullets. There are tons of them and unlike most manic shmups the majority of them are aimed at the player.
Amongst my favorites are Strikers 1945 II, Zero Gunner 2, Gunbird 2 and Sengoku Blade.

Still haven't sorted out the autofire thing in Dragon Blaze. In mameuifx32 0.1.32.0.0 I've got unasked for autofire in a couple of games (seems to have nothing to do with the maintenance mode or Tab menu settings). Dragon Blaze is playable this way (the special attack just happens everytime it's ready to use), but I'd like to control it by myself.

It plays a lot better than it looks.
Huh? I for one enjoyed Zero Gunner more than RayStorm (admittedly, Taito Legends 2 version of the latter wasn't exactly pretty). It was quite original a game for its time and it's a good example of Psikyo not remaking Sonic Wings over and over again (if you need one in this kind of discussion). Could it be that most people haven't got over this Wikipedia screenshot?FIL wrote:I think we'd all rather just pretend Zero Gunner didn't exist. And Pilot Kids.
