Espgaluda II
Re: Espgaluda II
The full name is called kakusei zetsushikai (zesshikai being a mistranslation because if the tsu were "little" that's how it would be pronounced). The game abbreviates it as zetu (tu being an alternate romanization of tsu), so zetsu makes sense as a quick way of referring to it. And yes, the big number at the top is your stage multiplier.

Re: Espgaluda II
There was no hiragana of it, or any phonetic until the home release. Many compound words with 'zetsu' as the prefix are romainzed as such. zettai, zekkyou, etc.dmauro wrote:(zesshikai being a mistranslation because if the tsu were "little" that's how it would be pronounced).

The multiplier you're refering to is the green cristal one??? Because I haven't noticed a stage multiplier. Maybe I haven't look it properly since I am trying to learn properly the scoring system.dmauro wrote:And yes, the big number at the top is your stage multiplier.

It's not that bad, but still not as good as the first.dmauro wrote:This soundtrack is making me want to hook up a woofer and maybe some nicer speakers to the amp in my cab. The black label version of the stage 6 music is so good.
I thought I was going to hate when I read impressions on here though.

Did anyone notice a different color palette in black label mode? like in futari?

Re: Espgaluda II
Got this today, and WOW! I finally see what I, and for that matter, everyone else who cares only about the modern 3D games and which system they have the best graphics on. Black label novice is easy enough to be played by anyone, and 360 novice most gamers could handle without too much trouble. The normal black label and 360 modes are rather hard, but I'm still relatively new, having only played shmups since about October. Arrange mode= ikaruga, but way improved. This is the first modern CAVE game i've played, and it certainly will not be the last.
Re: Espgaluda II
It is actually much more like another Yagawa game called Dimhoo which is the final game in of the Great Mahou Daisakusen series, but way improvedArrange mode= ikaruga, but way improved.

I barely consider it existing.chempop wrote:It is actually much more like another Yagawa game called Dimhoo which is the final game in of the Great Mahou Daisakusen series, but way improvedArrange mode= ikaruga, but way improved.Be careful comparing anything to Ikaruga around here though, although many people love that game, most people on the board barely consider it a shmup. Glad your enjoying the game so far, I think it's one that can take a lifetime to master.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but if memory serves me well, I don't think Yagawa was actually involved in Dimahoo. It was some ex-Compile guys.

Re: Espgaluda II
Yeah, Yagawa isn't credited on Dimahoo. I'm not sure what I expected Arrange to be, but the polarity bullets would've been pretty low on the list. It's definitely awesome, though!
Re: Espgaluda II
Espgaluda II Arrange feels a lot like Pink Sweets (way more so than Dimahoo), which Yagawa did program. It's probably the closest thing we'll get to a Pink Sweets home port.
Re: Espgaluda II
unless pink sweets is ported eh eh eh
Re: Espgaluda II
Cave is only porting two more of their older games after Guwange, and one is certainly Daifukkatsu, so Pink Sweets' odds of being the other one are pretty low. Just being realistic here.

Re: Espgaluda II
What other ones are there to choose from? Ketsui's already being released, as is DeathSmiles II. All that leaves is Daifukkatsu, Sweets, and Pork, unless I'm missing some?

Re: Espgaluda II
I'd rather prefer Ibara Kuro. As far as Cave keeps porting their games to the Xbox 360 I am happy.SP3RRFEUER wrote:Ibara?
Back on topic I don't know if someone else has noticed the tremendous slowdown that happens when you enter kakusei zeshikai mode in stage 6, just before the boss where seseri's clones appear. The frame rate drops to 3 or 5 fps.
Re: Espgaluda II
Same thing happens if you use kakusei in the same place in black label. I think we have a game that can surpass the limits of the 360.Phellan Wolf wrote:I'd rather prefer Ibara Kuro. As far as Cave keeps porting their games to the Xbox 360 I am happy.SP3RRFEUER wrote:Ibara?

Still researching this list, but I believe these games don't have ports:Momijitsuki wrote:What other ones are there to choose from? Ketsui's already being released, as is DeathSmiles II. All that leaves is Daifukkatsu, Sweets, and Pork, unless I'm missing some?
ESPrade
Dangun Feveron
Progear no Arashi
Pink Sweets
Ibara Kuro
Muchi Muchi Pork
Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu
Donpachi and Dodonpachi were ported to the PS1, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were eligible for new ports nonetheless. And I would certainly welcome new ports of any other game that had already been ported, just to give them a little more exposure stateside...
And I'm not even counting Uo Poko and Mushihimetama...
Re: Espgaluda II
basically just port pink sweets or ddp blue rom
Re: Espgaluda II
Progear is property of CAPCOM, so that's kinda hard for CAVE to release.

Re: Espgaluda II
The chance of any pre-PGM game released as a standalone port (as opposed to a part of an anthology) is close to zero… if not just zero. Ibara Kuro, Pink Sweets, or Ibara anthology (Ibara w/special mode enabled — Kuro — Pink Sweets) are a possibility, the only other option is MMP. I guess I'd prefer Ibara anthology.

Re: Espgaluda II
I'd def pick Muchi Muchi Pork
Havent really played anything else besides Ibara though. I don't know why, but MMP just looks hella fun to me, even though I really hate Ibara.
*shrugs*
I'm surprised there hasn't been a "keep this discussion out of my topic" post though.
Goddammit I can't wait for Guwange. Only played a little but it's probably my favorite classic Cave title. Love the background interaction and bullet slowing. The scoring also seems sweet though I haven't really read anything about it, just know that you slow bullets with shikigami to get gold.
