Rotating TV stand

Post by wasurechan »

Are there any table-type stands to be used for flat-panel LCD TVs that can rotate between hori and tate?

I've just been using a piece of metal to grab the bottom of the tv so that it doesn't slide and fall, but then the tv rests on the cables plugged in the back, not optimal.

So is there any good solution for this?

Thanks

Actually I’m selling mine since I don’t need it anymore. PM me if your interested.

EDIT: Sorry, the flat panel TV I successfully used was 26".

Hey, I must say I'm quite interested in that product. I often found wall mounts doing the same things, but they are harder to set in my room than a simple stand. I also found this stand, but it stated it does not support 32" tate rotation. Now, the description says :
Landscape-to-portrait screen rotation may be inhibited when using screens that are 30"–32" in size

You said it works with your 32''. You mean it tates without trouble of corners going through the table ? If yes, could you give precise dimension of your 32" TV, (either measured by yourself or stated on your manual/packaging) so that we may compare to those TVs we find on the internet. I think this might interest some people here.

Anyway, you'll get a PM soon I guess.

Wow, cool. Thanks for the quick and informative responses!

I'm going to see if they sell these around Tokyo and pick one up.

I was intrigued whether it would actually work with a 32" screen. So I went about and mounted my current flat panel TV. It worked surprisingly well. Here’s some pictures:

Image

Normal orientation, weight of panel is easily supported.

Image

Note that in order to tate the display it should be placed near the edge of the table (or on some sort of platform elevating it to about 7 to 10 cm).

Image

Note that the panel actually rests on its left side. Otherwise it wouldn’t stay upright due to the panel being heavier on the bottom (where the speakers are).

Image

This is the VESA 200mm x 200mm mounting. 100mm is also possible by omitting some of the metal girders.

Hope this is of some help.

Looks like my 30" monitor may just be able to rotate using that - I was considering buying one, I'll probably do it later.

Repeating wasurechan, but could you provide the actual diagonal measurement of that TV? Thanks.

Sure. It’s 94 cm in diagonal.

Ola again,

So girlfriend and I finally bought our new flat panel TV. It is 40'', LED and thus does not weight more than 15 kg.
Now I am seeking a stand that
1) Does not require to make any hole in my wall/furniture
2) Allows tate rotation
3) May be expensive

Does that even exist ?

I saw one at Target awhile back. It wasn't much more than a pole with the mount on top. I don't know what sort of quality it was though, it was only $100 and I can't find it on their website.

Thanks for the advice. What is Target by the way ? Manufacturer, seller ?
I've been looking around the internet for like 2 hours now and cant seem to find a rationnal solution : either it is too big for my TV (enormous poles that cost over $1000 by Chief), or too small for tating (ergotron discussed here).
I'm not giving up though, any further help is appreciated !

Oh sorry I didn't realize you weren't in the US, as far as I know Target is only here. I'll stop by there and see if I can get the brand name of the stand for you later.

Well,

Almost 4 hours of searching now and Ergo Mounts from UK seems to have stuffs for me :
http://www.azlek.com/products.asp?act=view&c=14&id=326

Image

Here it is shown with two monitors on it but hey, what prevents me form having just one ? Avantage is that the pole is thus quite high, 640mm, while my TV is 623 by itself. Height will allow rotation.

Now one problem that remains is fixation : stand supports VESA 75x75 and VESA 100x100, my big TV is VESA 300x300. Do VESA converter exist ?
