Egret II vs Capcom Q 25

Post by clamchowder01 »

Sup guys,

I've been debating over getting an Egret II or wait for a Capcom Q25...

Which would you guys recommend?

Thanks!

EGRET II. I think it's more common, and that is good when you want to source parts. Also, the control panel of the Capcom cab looks less comfortable than the EGRET II. EGRET II also has a bigger screen.

I would go for the Capcom Q25, A much better looking and unusual cab.

Since the Egret II comes with a 29" (is referred to as an 27" in the USA) Nanao MS9 monitor that is dual sync from the get-go (with support for both low-res & medium-res PCBs), it is preferable to a 25" monitor...your eyes will thank you in the long run + it has more visual impact & punch anyways. Plus the super ease of the built-in rotating mechanism on the Egret II if you plan to play a mixture of both vertical & horizontal oriented screen based PCBs.

You can rotate some Q25's also, and its even easier than the E2.

I believe that the Q25 also has dual sync. I tried to be as objective/practical as possible with my advice, even though I LOVE the shape/color scheme of the EGRET II, the practical aspects IMHO over weighs the cosmetic side. So my vote still goes to the EGRET II.

Thanks guys!

At the end it's what I feel I really like...

I guess my impulse right now is to get the Egret II since it's on sale, but in my gut, i feel I'm more of a Q25 guy.

For the Q25, you can mod it to play mame and stuff right?

@Kernow - yea i saw a video of some guy rotating the Q25 monitor it seemed easier than the Egret II. You just have to unlatch the door that's above the monitor then you rotate it.. and the Q25 has a more aggressive body style..

Ahhh, this is hard hah. I wish I could have both...

I'm going to check out the Egret II tomorrow night...

Just get a J-Pac and an Arcade VGA and you're good. Or a J-Pac and install Soft15kHz if your computers video adapter supports it.

I guess, if you can find/buy a Q-Sound amp and install it in your cabinet.
